We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeffrey Chark a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeffrey , thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind the mission of A Step Above Style is a narrative of transparency. Our blog aims to shed light on 4 key topics we believe can greatly impact our readers lives. We send the strongest possible message by using personal stories and examples. Each post is only as long as necessary to get the point across. We believe that knowledge is power, and we aim to equip every man, woman, and young person to be “A Step Above” the person they were yesterday. It’s more than just a blog, it’s a community!
Jeffrey , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jeffrey Chark and I am the founder of A Step Above Style. Our blog started in 2021 amidst the pandemic that changed, and took so many lives. We are not the first blog on the internet, but we did want to fill a gap that had shown itself. People in 2021 (and still today) were feeling like they had nothing to live for. Everything seemed to be going downhill fast. We wanted to change that by putting positive information in front of them. We at A Step Above Style care about people and want to see them obtain purpose, success, and happiness in their lives. We believe the information we share should be seen by all, so we carefully craft each blog post to ensure its of the highest quality. We are more than just another blog; we are a group of like-minded individuals all trying to be the best possible version of themselves.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The way we started the blog that is A Step Above Style is by first raising money. We accomplished this by the very humble trade of shining shoes! The money I made from shining shoes directly went into the funding of this blog. I wanted to have the best hosting platform, a beautiful website, and great theme. It had to look professional. So I shined shoe after shoe until I had the money to afford that exact website. Today it’s a website for all to enjoy!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In order to start a blog, you need to be somewhat tech savvy. Although I thought I fit this description, I quickly found out how much I didn’t know. From coding to available domain names, plug-ins to proper grammar; there was a lot to learn! I struggled tremendously in the early days of the blog but I was determined to see it through. Why? Because I felt in my heart this information had to get out to the public no matter what. After a lot of effort we were able to overcome every obstacle and produce what we believe is one of the best blogs on the internet.
