We were lucky to catch up with Ron Vanvoorhis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ron, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
As a professional photographer, I have created something that no one in the industry has done yet! Publish a book with images from around the world all shot on my cell phone! I also give professional insights on most of the images in my book on how I took that and what I used to Edit that image! Unlike a professional camera, with a cell phone, what you see is what you get and I love sharing my knowledge with others!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into photography late in Life! 2008 my wife and I got married and paid a lot of money for photography to only be disappointed in the results! A year later my wife bought me a camera to take pictures for her event coordination business and seems I have an eye for it!
Fast forward to 2016 I turned what I have learned and passion into a business! From Birthdays to weddings and everything in between! So, when I have a gig, I remember our wedding photographer and that inspires me even more to create a story that my clients will love and cherish!
2020 was a very difficult time in the world and my industry as well, So, I taught myself studio photography to help supplement my income and I don’t know why I didn’t try this as an option years sooner!
As a world traveler with my wife, I decided to stop bringing my professional camera, instead. Only use my cell phone and that has lead me to where I am today! Last year I stared a journey to publish a travel photo book all shot with my cell phone! One big difference, I give the reader my professional insight on how I took that picture with tips, tricks, composition and editing techniques on almost every image. I truly love what I do and sharing it with the world is a bonus!
When I stared my business, I told myself that with this talent, helping people needs to a part of it as that is who I am and so I have! to date, I have helped over 40 non-profits with my photography from events to senior pictures as they never have to pay as long as they are a licensed non-profit and this is one part of the business I truly love!
From a very humble up bringing, I was raised in a small farming Community under 3,000 people and so your name says everything about you! I believe that if you have a talent, you should use that to help people and not all about profit and that principle has helped me as a business owner for almost a decade now.
If you are a non-profit and need help capturing your event, I would be happy to help you! I also have a mobile photo studio that I can have for your event as well.

-be intentional
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to publish up to 3 books, maybe more on cell phone photography and to be to help people maximize there camera! This journey, I have a goal and a mission in mind and I will not stop till I reach it! I want to be able to help people more and serving others has always been a passion of mine!
As a marine veteran, I would like to get involved more in supporting our brothers and sisters!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a photographer/Artist is when my clients love there pictures, or refer me to a friend. Also, because I donate a lot of my time to helping non-profits, my community has recognized my work and has humbly nominated me two years I a row for “Man of the Year”
