We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ebri Yahloe . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ebri below.
Ebri , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was in middle school, my friends and I formed a rap group called “Pure Gold.” We ended up performing at the Southern Theatre in Columbus, Ohio as part of the S.A.V.E. Awards — which stood for Strategies Against Violence Everywhere. The place was packed, and I’ll never forget the energy in that room.
When the crowd erupted, cheering for something I wrote — something that came from me — I felt this spark. That was the first time I realized I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally. That feeling of being heard, of connecting with people through my words, made me want to keep doing it forever.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ebri Yahloe, and I’m a rapper and genre-blender who’s passionate about pushing the boundaries of what rap and hip-hop can be. I experiment with fusing rap with a wide range of genres — from jazz to metal, funk to folk, pop and beyond — creating a sound that’s fluid, unexpected, and emotionally resonant. My mission is to bring hip-hop into spaces where it might not traditionally live, and in doing so, expand the possibilities of the art form.
What sets me apart is my willingness to be bold and vulnerable in my work. I’m not afraid to take creative risks or challenge conventions. One project I’m especially proud of is my release, Candid. With Candid, I laid everything on the line — emotionally, artistically, and conceptually. Even just thinking about it still makes me nervous, which to me is a sign that it’s something truly special. It’s raw, honest, and deeply personal, and I believe that kind of transparency has the power to connect on a real level.
At the heart of everything I do is a desire to tell the truth, innovate within the genre, and create art that resonates with people across different communities and musical tastes. Whether you’re a listener, collaborator, or just curious about what I do — I want you to feel something real when you experience my work
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the core of my creative journey is a simple but powerful mission: to be happy and to create from the heart — with the skill, dedication, and consistency of a professional.
For me, it’s not just about making art — it’s about making honest art, and doing it in a way that feels joyful and true to who I am. I believe that when you lead with heart and stay committed to the craft, the impact naturally follows.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative, for me, is the pure satisfaction that comes from creating itself. There’s something magical about going inward, tapping into a space that feels almost otherworldly, and pulling out something that didn’t exist before — not in my world, not anywhere. That process of turning a feeling, thought, or vision into something real… it never stops amazing me. It’s a kind of alchemy, and it’s what keeps me coming back to the work again and again
