We recently connected with Tracy Hammond and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tracy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Up Together – Your Mom Society was born out of shared experience, deep expertise, and a whole lot of heart. As professionals working in the perinatal space—Tracy as a lactation counselor and postpartum doula, Shelby as a childbirth educator and nutrition guru, and Stefanie as a pelvic floor physical therapist—we kept seeing the same thing: new moms were being sent home with a baby but without the support or education they truly needed for themselves.
We talked about how fragmented the information was and how moms were constantly left piecing together advice from Google, social media, and late-night text threads with friends. We knew there had to be a better way—one place that covered everything a mother needs to know in the 4th trimester, delivered with compassion and backed by clinical and real-world experience.
So we teamed up, combined our unique skill sets, and created Up Together. It’s a postpartum e-course designed to support moms where they’re at—with guidance on everything from mental health to pelvic floor recovery, lactation to nutrition. We believe no mom should navigate this season alone, and with Up Together, she doesn’t have to.

Tracy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We’re Up Together – Your Mom Society, a trio of passionate professionals who came together to fill a major gap in postpartum care. Our team includes Tracy, a lactation counselor and postpartum doula; Shelby, a childbirth educator and nutrition expert; and Stefanie, a pelvic floor physical therapist. Collectively, we’ve spent years supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and beyond—and we’ve all seen firsthand how underserved the postpartum period really is.
That’s why we created Up Together, a comprehensive, self-paced postpartum e-course that empowers new moms in the 4th trimester. Our course covers everything we believe every mother deserves to know but often isn’t told—like how to nourish your body after birth, support your mental and emotional health, navigate lactation without stress, and care for your pelvic floor.
We’re not just throwing information at moms—we’re giving them a supportive, accessible roadmap to recovery and confidence. What sets us apart is the combination of our specialized knowledge, our real-world experience, and our heart for this work. We approach postpartum care holistically, with evidence-based information and judgment-free support.
What we’re most proud of is creating a space where moms feel seen, supported, and empowered. Our goal is to change the way postpartum is experienced—so no mom has to feel alone, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to care for herself while caring for a baby.
If you’re expecting or newly postpartum, or just want to feel more prepared and supported, Up Together is for you.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Tracy first connected with Shelby through a mutual contact. Shelby runs an annual postpartum workshop, and Tracy—being deeply passionate about supporting families in the 4th trimester—was eager to be part of those conversations. They began collaborating, even trying to work Tracy into Shelby’s childbirth classes, but quickly realized there just wasn’t enough time to cover all the crucial postpartum topics.
That’s when Shelby introduced Tracy to Stefanie, a pelvic floor physical therapist she had met through her previous postpartum workshop. The three of us instantly clicked—not just professionally, but personally. We shared a common frustration: new moms weren’t getting enough guidance, and postpartum education was often an afterthought.
So we started hosting in-person support and education groups for new moms. The response was incredible—moms showed up, asked questions, and finally felt heard. But we also saw the limitations. Committing to a 6-week series was tough for both the attendees and for us as professionals juggling full caseloads and young families. That’s when the idea hit us: let’s take everything we were teaching in person and bring it online.
And so, Up Together – Your Mom Society was born—a comprehensive, on-demand postpartum e-course that supports moms where they are, whenever they need it.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building our audience on social media has been a slow and intentional process. When we first started Up Together – Your Mom Society, we didn’t focus on going viral—we focused on being valuable. We shared the kind of content we wished more moms had access to: real, evidence-based, supportive information about postpartum life that felt personal and honest.
Instead of trying to be everywhere, we chose platforms where our audience (new and expecting moms) already spent time—primarily Instagram and Facebook. We posted consistently, used our own voices, and leaned into storytelling—whether it was tips about lactation, reminders about pelvic floor health, or gentle affirmations for the harder days. We also found that behind-the-scenes content about who we are and why we do this work helped build trust and connection.
Our biggest growth came when we collaborated with other professionals and mom-centered accounts. Sharing each other’s work, and engaging in those communities helped us reach more people who needed what we offer.
Our advice to those just starting out:
Know your audience and speak directly to their needs.
Be consistent, but don’t burn out—quality matters more than quantity.
Be human. People connect with people, not perfect graphics or polished captions.
Engage! Comment, respond to DMs, and be part of conversations.
And finally—focus on serving over selling. If your content helps, educates, or supports someone, your audience will grow naturally over time.
