Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vince Roeshink. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vince, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success as a DJ and Photo Booth company in the wedding industry hinges on more than just spinning great tracks or snapping fun pictures—it’s about becoming an integral part of a couple’s most memorable day. That starts with understanding their vision in meticulous detail. From the first consultation, a successful company listens intently to the couple’s dreams, whether they want an elegant first dance under fairy lights or a high-energy reception that keeps guests on their feet. It’s about tailoring playlists and booth setups to reflect their personalities and unique love story. Flexibility, preparation, and a great sense of timing turn that vision into a smooth, unforgettable experience.
Equally crucial is how well you collaborate with other vendors. Weddings are choreographed productions, and seamless coordination with planners, photographers, caterers, and venue staff ensures everything flows without a hitch. A good DJ knows when to keep the party going—but a great one also knows that including every vendor in the itinerary flow makes for a fantastic wedding. Reliability, professionalism, and a supportive attitude build strong vendor relationships, which in turn elevate your reputation and lead to glowing referrals. In the wedding world, being a team player is just as important as being the life of the party.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Roeshink Entertainment has been creating unforgettable moments for over 16 years, delivering high-energy entertainment that keeps guests dancing and memories flowing. I founded the company because I had a passion for music and feel I have eye for detail and a love for live events, Roeshink Entertainment was built on the belief that collaboration with clients is the key to an extraordinary celebration. Whether it’s a wedding, private party, or corporate function, I work closely with every client to tailor the experience to their vision. In my downtime, I’m constantly exploring the latest musical trends and freshest tracks to make sure every event is not just good—but legendary.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
It all started in a cramped garage where the bass always thumped just a little too loud and the neighbors always complained just a little too late. I was in a band, living off gigs and passion, surrounded by a pile of sound gear that had seen better days—but still had music left in it.
One day, as I looked around at the wires, speakers, and mixers I’d collected over the years, a spark hit me: What if this gear could do more than just serve the band? What if it could be the foundation of something bigger? That was the moment I decided to launch my own entertainment service, offering live music and DJ experiences for weddings, parties, and any place that needed a beat to remember.
It wasn’t glamorous at first. I was the roadie, the DJ, the marketer, and the accountant. But every event lit a fire in me—the joy on people’s faces, the way the right song could change an entire room. With each gig, I put a little aside, slowly replacing worn cables with sleek new tech, outdated amps with crisp, professional sound systems. Every upgrade wasn’t just an investment in gear—it was an upgrade in experience.
Year by year, the business grew—not just in size, but in reputation. What started as a simple idea fueled by what I had on hand turned into a full-blown entertainment company. And through it all, the mission stayed the same: to bring unforgettable energy to every event, one track at a time.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve always believed that talent is only part of the equation—what you do with it is where the real story begins.
With a 4th dan black belt under my belt (pun intended), I turned my passion into purpose and opened a martial arts school. A brick-and-mortar studio, buzzing with the sound of focus, discipline, and the occasional breaking of boards—it was my dream made real. But reality throws punches too. The overheads—rent, utilities, insurance—began siphoning the life out of my revenue. I was working harder than ever, but the numbers just didn’t add up.
Instead of throwing in the towel, I pivoted.
That’s when I launched my entertainment company—an agile, service-based business model that didn’t tether me to a physical location. No rent, no utility bills breathing down my neck. It was just me, my skills, and the freedom to create on my own terms. The entertainment world became my new arena, and I realized the same principles I taught on the mat—discipline, adaptability, and performance—were the keys to thriving here too.
This chapter of my journey taught me that sometimes, the real black belt move isn’t about standing your ground—it’s about knowing when to change direction.
