We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful DeShanna Hampton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with DeShanna below.
DeShanna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I never set out to be a photographer or a filmmaker—those dreams found me later in life. What started as a simple hobby behind the camera turned into a passion I didn’t see coming. Filmmaking? That was a beautiful fluke.
In 2016, I connected with my incredible production partner, Tyesha (rest in peace), and everything changed. From spontaneous road trips to sleepless nights writing scripts, we dove headfirst into the world of storytelling. What began as curiosity became a calling—fueled by creativity, connection, and the kind of magic you don’t plan for.
Now, every project I create carries a piece of that journey—and a whole lot of heart.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is DeShanna Hampton, and I’m a photographer and filmmaker from just outside Birmingham, Alabama. My creative journey began in 2012 with a camera in hand and no idea how far it would take me. What started as a love for photography naturally evolved into filmmaking—and somewhere along the way, I realized this was more than a passion. It was purpose.
I specialize in lifestyle and boudoir photography, helping women see the power, softness, and beauty they sometimes forget to notice in themselves. I don’t chase trends or compare myself to the crowd—I stay rooted in my craft and focused on delivering quality, intentional content to the people who trust me with their stories.
Right now, I’m most proud of this season of reinvention and boldness. With the launch of dFACE PRODUCTIONS, I’ve stepped fully into my filmmaking journey, and our first film, Is Love Enough, is a testament to doing the work, honoring the vision, and telling stories that matter.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to tell the stories that we live daily. We don’t have to be drug dealers, gang bangers or have to participate in “struggle love” my films will focus on real issues,

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of this journey is that I can wake up every day and create!
