We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LARRY COTHRAN a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
LARRY, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Man, the first time I knew I wanted to take this content thing seriously was when I started documenting my journey from being a company driver to becoming an owner-operator. I wasn’t trying to go viral—I was just telling my story. I uploaded a couple of videos on YouTube, and after like my first or second video, a company hit me up. They said, “Hey, if you mention us in your videos and people sign up, we’ll give you $200 per person.” I was like, Wait—what? So I made another video, dropped their info in there, and told folks to check them out.
About a month later, I got a check in the mail for $200. That was it for me. I only had about 400 followers on YouTube, but I knew I was on to something. That little $200 felt like a million bucks because it proved I could make money just being me and telling my truth.
Then I took a break from social media for a bit. Came back in May 2021, dropped two videos—they got maybe 200 views each. But that third one? Boom—13,000 views overnight. The next day, a trucking news platform hit me up to do a podcast interview. Then a brand offered me $2,000 to make six videos. That’s when it all clicked. I wasn’t just a truck driver anymore—I was a content creator.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I’m Larry Cothran, and I’m a full-time truck driver, but more than that—I’m the number one trucking content creator in the world. I’ve built a brand around telling real stories from the road—funny, raw, sometimes emotional, but always relatable. I started just filming my own journey: how I went from being a company driver to an owner-operator. I didn’t have a blueprint, just my phone, my voice, and a lot of faith.
What I do now is create content that speaks to the everyday driver, the underdog, the overlooked. I make skits, short films, series, and commentary that spotlight the trucking industry—the good, the bad, and the hilarious. But it’s bigger than just trucking. My goal is to inspire people to turn their story into success, no matter what lane they’re in.
I also work with companies—big and small—who want to connect with real drivers. I help them bridge that gap through storytelling, humor, and real engagement. I’ve helped brands reach millions of people they never could’ve touched through traditional advertising. And just to give you a sense of scale, I’ve got over 5 billion views on one platform alone in just the past year.
I’m also expanding my presence on Twitch, where I share live streams and behind-the-scenes looks at life on the road. And you can find me on YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram—pretty much everywhere. What sets me apart? I’m real. I’m relatable. And I get results. My videos have been seen billions of times, but more than views, I create impact. I’ve helped people get started in trucking, make career moves, start businesses, and find purpose. That’s what I’m most proud of.
At the end of the day, I want people to know this: I didn’t wait until I had a million followers or fancy equipment. I started with what I had, and I built from there. So whether you’re a company looking to partner, a driver looking for motivation, or just someone who loves a good story—I got something for you.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely. My mission is simple but powerful: to resurrect people from death to life through comedy. I believe laughter is like medicine—it heals, it uplifts, and it frees people from the weight they’ve been carrying. Life can be heavy, and sometimes people just need a break… a reason to smile again. That’s what I try to give them.
Whether it’s a skit, a short film, or a live stream, I’m intentional about creating content that helps people escape, recharge, and find some joy. I want to help pull folks out of depression, give them hope, and remind them that they’re not alone. But beyond that, my deeper purpose is to represent the Kingdom of God. I want people to feel the love of God through my content—even if I’m just making them laugh. That’s the assignment.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part for me is seeing the joy my content brings to people. Whether it’s on a FaceTime call, in person, or just watching someone scroll through my page and start smiling—it’s those moments that make it all worth it. Knowing that something I created helped somebody laugh, helped them push through a tough day, or even come out of a dark place like depression… that right there is the real reward.
Yeah, the money’s cool, and I’m thankful for every opportunity. But honestly, that’s just a byproduct of the purpose. What drives me is the calling that’s been placed deep inside of me—to create, to uplift, and to do it all as unto God. That’s what keeps me going. That’s the part that means the most.
