Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gary Lamb. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gary, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind my mission can be summed up in one word: Community. After pastoring for years and preaching community, I began to realize in my opinion the church lacked community. He tried to force community and you can’t do that. Community is created around shared experiences and likes. After I started putting on events, I begin to see community happen in an organic way that got me excited. It might have been around the love of BBQ and our BBQ festivals, 80’s music at out Back To The 80’s Experiences or around wrestling at our wrestling shows, but what happened is community began to develop and grow. People looked forward to the events so they could be around link minded people who shared the same interests. I found through events what I had been looking for in the church for years.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Gary Lamb. My bride calls me husband. My kids call me dad. Everyone locally calls me the Black Sheep. I put on large scale events that bring communities together. After starting a very large church and losing everything, I needed to provide for my family. I had a love of BBQ and I started a festival called BBQ and Brews. It is now a staple festival in multiple locations all over North Georgia. That led to me promoting bands and putting on summer concert series for city’s and multi-use developments. About 4 years ago, my son (he was 7 at the time) got really into wrestling. I hated going to the local shows so I started one that has become huge. It has one Georgia Promotion of the year 3 years in a row and has broke numerous attendance records in our state. Currently, I’m working on my biggest project yet, but I can’t talk about that at this point….
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Obviously when COVID hit, we had to pivot from large scale events. We began to run smaller vendor focused events. We started hosting weekly makers markets outside, food truck nights and smaller outside events where people could socially distance at their on discretion. As other event promoters were going out of business, we doubled down and went all in with more events. We also began to run underground events during this time. Underground concerts and wrestling shows. This let people know we were serious about creating community and those who still desired this type of events were able to come regardless of shut downs.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I only have one business with a partner. That is Southern Honor Wrestling. I met my partner (Dylan Frymyer) through mutual friends. Dylan had a desire to run.a wrestling show, book the show and create production for the show. I had the building and the ability to draw people. We both stay in our lane and the results have been one of the most respected and known promotions in the Southeast.
