We recently connected with John Truitt and have shared our conversation below.
John, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My parents are my friend and bestfriend all in one. We argue, we fight, but we love one another unconditionally and that’s something that I know!
I would say the first thing that they did right was create me. Both of my parents have always been instrumental in my life. Half of the things I have learned in life, has been from my parents. I learn key lessons from the both of them and they both are great in their own aspects. My mother is loving and forgiving. The world could be taking a toll on my mom’s life, but the way that she holds everything together is remarkable. The resilience I do have in myself, I get it from my mom. My dad comes from an athletic background which has embedded in him to always work hard and give it your all. Those are some of the traits that I get from my father as well as many many more. The positives in my life definitely outweigh the negatives, and despite whatever, I am grateful that God blessed me with the parents I do have.

John, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello Everypawdy, my name is John Truitt I’m a business owner in Southern California and I also run my own non profit organization. Animals are my passion, particularly pets. I’m a professional Dog Groomer, I run a pet friendly social club and host at events in my community for pet owners, I’m part owner of my own dog bakery and I give back to pets who need assistance in any way possible through my non profit organization.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During my journey of being a pet owner and owning a famous exotic bully dog by the name of Queen Califia, everything was going smooth. We were traveling, attending dog shows, gaining more and more attention and suddenly she passed away. We were in the process of pitching a television show to a network and everything had came to a hult for us due to her untimely passing. For a couple of months I didn’t know what to do, all of our goals and my dreams of owning a famous exotic bully were all gone in a short period of 4 years. The pivot came when I wanted to continue doing things in the pet world and cherish my girls legacy. Instead of me owning another dog and picking up where my previous dog and I had left off, I wanted to do something different, I started hosting pet friendly events and giving pet owners the incentive to enjoy their dogs just as much as I enjoyed mine. In 2019, TheDogBFF Social Club formally known as the Beach Cities Bulldog Club was established. I began hosting pet friendly events in each of the SoCal Beach Cities up until the pandemic affected the world. By then, I was searching the market for another fur- baby and happened to find what I was looking for in Indianapolis Indiana. June of 2020, I flew to Indiana to pick up my darling The Collectibulls IBA.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Although I don’t have a huge following on social media, I have built my audience off of authenticity. You are either going to like me or you are not and if you don’t, that’s ok with me.
