We recently connected with Vishnuprabha Numburi Chandraraja and have shared our conversation below.
Vishnuprabha , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I worked on Ilustrating the Divine Verses of Thiruppavai, Hanuman Chalisa and many such spiritual verses and stories, which is close to my heart. Through this I found my style, originality and my path to travel .
Though I worked in many other subjects, I found spiritual Art is more meaningful to me as it teaches me the way of life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Vishnuprabha, and I am a multidisciplinary artist whose journey in art has been a lifelong devotion, growing from a childhood passion into a fulfilling career spanning over 15 years. Deeply rooted in my South Indian heritage and inspired by spirituality, mythology, folklore, nature, and everyday joys, my art is a tapestry of tradition and personal expression. I work across both traditional and digital mediums, with a special focus on spiritual painting and visual storytelling drawn from the Puranas, Itihasas, and other sacred texts.
As a self-taught artist, my growth has come from consistent practice, passionate exploration, and a deep curiosity for various art forms and techniques. I tell stories through my art—stories that carry timeless wisdom and universal truths. I specialize in commissioned artworks and illustrations, and I also offer high-quality fine art giclée prints that are shipped to collectors and art lovers around the world. My work now adorns homes across the globe, bringing a sense of peace, connection, and sacredness into everyday spaces.
I’ve had the privilege of exhibiting my artwork at prestigious galleries in Richmond, Atlanta, and St. Louis, and have participated in juried art shows, which have helped me gain wider recognition within the U.S. art community. Alongside spiritual art, I am also passionate about Awareness Art—using creativity as a tool to inspire mindfulness, dialogue, and collective growth.
One of the most meaningful chapters of my artistic journey is working on the Spiritual themes. The sacred subjects allows me to immerse myself fully in the spiritual dimension of art, refining my style and voice while contributing to something timeless.
Beyond visual art, I have a deep appreciation for other creative expressions like music, dance, storytelling, photography, and research. I love studying the history of art and learning from the lives and works of the great masters. These influences continue to shape my perspective and enrich my process.
I currently live in St. Louis with my husband and daughter who are my pillars, critics, and great supporters. My Family back home has always been my strength. For me, art is not just a career—it is a spiritual journey, a form of devotion, and a way of life. Every brushstroke and pixel placement is a quiet prayer, an offering, and a story waiting to be shared.
I share my works in social media especially in Instagram.and my handle is @vishnuprabhanc
