We were lucky to catch up with Anna Harp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Anna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
In 2021, I lost my dad to Covid. It was sudden, and it forced me to slow down and reevaluate what really matters. In the weeks that followed, I found myself clinging to memories—his voice, his laugh, the way he looked when he wasn’t posing for a camera. But when I started searching for photos of us, I realized how few recent ones we had. Most were outdated or felt too staged to truly capture who we were to each other. That realization hit me hard: we didn’t have many images that felt real—the kind that show love in its rawest, most ordinary form.
That’s when Heirloom Sessions became something deeper for me. They’re not just photo shoots. They’re intentional time carved out to document families exactly as they are—messy, loving, imperfect, and real. It’s about preserving connection. These sessions are my way of giving families what I wish I had more of: tangible memories of everyday love, frozen in time.
Every heirloom session I shoot is personal. I approach each one knowing how precious and fleeting these moments can be. My goal is to give families images that will matter even more in 10, 20, or 50 years—when faces change, when kids are grown, when time has moved on.
This project means everything to me because it was born from loss, but it continues with purpose. And every time a family trusts me to tell their story, it feels like I’m honoring my dad a little.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We’re Anna and Jesse Harp—a husband and wife team documenting love, family, and the beautifully ordinary. Our work lives somewhere between memory and feeling, blending digital and film to create photos that don’t just show how things looked, but how they felt.
Our brand wasn’t born from a perfect business plan. It started with a deep need to hold on to moments—especially after losing my dad in 2021. That experience changed everything. I began paying closer attention to the way people held each other. To the fleeting things—kids growing up too fast, quiet glances between partners, the layered, complicated beauty of family.
We photograph weddings, heirloom family sessions, motherhood, and all the life in between. What sets us apart isn’t just our style—it’s our intention. We’re not here for the perfect pose or Pinterest-ready moments. We’re here to capture you as you are, in the realness of it all.
We’re drawn to soft, earthy colors and tones that feel grounded and nostalgic—like warm sun and old family film photos. We want every image to feel timeless and full of quiet emotion—like something you’ll want to return to again and again.
These aren’t just photos—they’re future treasures. They’re for your kids, your grandkids, and your future self. If you’re looking for photos that feel like home, like honesty, like something you’ll want to hold onto forever—you’re in the right place.
We’re proud of the trust our clients give us. Proud that people don’t just hire us for the work, but for the experience. And proud that in every image, you’ll find feeling first.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is knowing that what I’m making will outlive me. It’s about preserving the fleeting—the quiet, in-between moments that often go unnoticed. Creating something that helps people remember—not just what something looked like, but what it felt like—that’s the gift that will never get old.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
The second half of The Harp Creatives is my husband Jesse—and the truth is, he kind of fell into this job. What started as him tagging along to help carry gear turned into a natural creative rhythm between us. It wasn’t something we planned, but it quickly became clear that we work best as a team—not just in life, but behind the camera too.
We’ve always been partners in the day-to-day: raising our child, tackling projects, showing up for each other. That same kind of trust and communication shows up in our work. We see things differently, which adds depth to the way we document a story—but we’re always in sync when it matters most.
The way we shoot is rooted in who we are together: intuitive, steady, and quietly attuned to the moments that matter most.
