We were lucky to catch up with Sherrell Riley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sherrell thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
Many people underestimate the power of social media. My first client was actually a result of a Facebook post. That post led to us working together multiple times and even multiple referrals. When you first start out, it may seem like nobody is seeing your posts but remain consistent, and your first client and biggest supporters will likely be those you didn’t know.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I wear many hats, but I am most proud of my accomplishments as an author. My stories Dexstar the Sexstar: Little Book of Sexcapades and The Baby Momma Scam both ranked #1 on Watt Pad. They are both also currently in the top 3 for new releases. I use my nickname Princess Niva for fiction, and my real name when writing articles. It took it a very long time for me to be brave enough to put my work out, but things started moving fast once I did. It felt great seeing both of my stories at the top, and it made me wish I would have been brave enough to start sooner. The majority of my articles are on Medium, and I plan on putting out an e-book soon. You will definitely be seeing more from me in the future and ultimately I would like to see my stories on the big screen.
I am also very proud of the work I’ve done under my company, Winiva Liability Resolutions. My vision was to help car accident victims directly but the majority of my business has came from personal injury attorneys. The purpose of my company is to help car accident victims overcome liability denials. I’ve also partnered with a non profit and did three non profit events. To date, we’ve had two back to school bashes and also a Mother’s Day brunch for women who experienced a loss. I was raised in a single parent household and also lost my Mother at 19 so both events were very meaningful to me. I’m so thankful for all of the businesses that came together and hope for an even bigger turn out next year.
I’m also a notary signing agent and have a mentorship program where I teach other individuals how to build clientele in this industry. My notary business has been my most profitable business. Getting to be the final piece to the puzzle when people are buying new homes etc… is very fulfilling.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I originally funded my businesses out of pocket. It wasn’t hard, because I had money saved up, plus It worked out tax time. However, I don’t recommend that route for aspiring entrepreneurs. I have since learned more about business plans and how to establish business credit. Using OPM (Other Peoples Monet) to fund your business is the way to go.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Social media has been a great tool, but I honestly get most of my business from google. I was able to accomplish this without being ranked. I recommend all entrepreneurs list their companies on Google and also ask clients for google reviews.
