Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haleigh Berrien. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Haleigh thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As a youngin, I knew I was creative when I every assignment I turned in early I’d doodle to pass by time. In meetings, my teacher would rave about my work but scold me on my drawings alerting my mother that this isn’t art class. I’d just ignore it until my mom started doing the same at home drawing on her purses and writing on my brother’s belongings. I always wanted to practice my handwriting because I thought an artist had to write their own signature on their work. I kept it up through high school and it got me noticed by my peers. My friends would ask me to write or draw things for them as a simple favor. It didn’t bother me because they’d make sure I had all the tools to do it. The support was there so I took off. I didn’t realize my worth perhaps that others viewed. I had one close friend I’d call my brother who asked me to sign off on a form that he got into trouble with in school. After practicing to ensure it was eligible, we both smiled once we were pleased with the job. Before I knew it, I was being called to the principal’s office and got detention for forging a signature because evidence was left behind on their behalf. This was a wake-up call to me that the copy has nothing on the original. There’s value in the things you can’t recreate better or change that the original intent has been made with a signature.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Haleigh Berrien. I don’t settle for less. Therefore, I expect “Nevertheless “. I serve diligently. I add more than I take. I’m a believer in right and wrong. Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Imagine a place where the audience is those with special needs, single mothers, retirees, and locals who have been in accidents and need that push to relearn how to live. Having a facility that incorporates To Live and implements living daily is a goal I want to execute. Everything would be under supervision. Each room that you walk into will have a theme. Instead of paying to come, it would be covered. Similar to a nonprofit perhaps.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I find being creative a sweatless victory . It’s a part of my way of thinking and being. I love that it shows my mind that I’m blessed with. Check me out on Instagram : multifaceted_j & tik tok @keepsayingmyname.
