I have been a single mom of 2 boys for 13 years. I have absolutely no family near and raising them AND running a household with one parent has been challenging and exhausting! I was working full time for an appliance company doing accounting work for very little money. There was no opportunity to move up or make more money so if I stayed, that would be my future. I knew I had to make a change and I went home and wrote out what I would need to do in order to quit my job and I realized it was very doable. I gave myself 6 months and I was ready to quit my job and work for myself. The next day I went to work and my boss did one last thing that pushed me over the edge and I decided I was quitting my job and gave 2 weeks notice. That was a little over 4 years ago and I have never looked back!

Working for myself has allowed me to spend more time with my boys and adapt the products of my businesses with the needs of my customers. When the pandemic hit in 2020 I used my sewing skills to make thousands of masks and I also baked cool custom cakes for birthdays since no one could have parties. That year began a rise in my income that I never could have achieved if I wasn’t working for myself.

Let me reintroduce myself, my name is Destinee Love Sanchez and I am an entrepreneur. My main umbrella business is Healing Love & Light and I have a few different businesses that I run. Bite Size Sweetz is my baking business and I create custom cakes and treats, anything you can imagine! Sweetz Shop Online, I create handmade items like jewelry, candles, soaps, yogamat and tote bags and more. Light Shine Yoga, I teach inversion workshops, zoom yoga and I teach at the Yoga Lab in Winter Springs focusing on having a positive mind and getting upside down! Sweetz Cleaning Service is my cleaning business to help relieve families of the overwhelming task of keeping their house clean. I was able to take all of the things that I love and turn them into businesses. I work all of the time but since I do what I love it never seems like I’m actually working!! I’m most proud of myself because I recently lost 49 lbs on weight watchers and am back into the healthy weight range. I love to share my recipes and tips and journey to help inspire others to start their weight loss journey!

Growing up we learn that you have to do good in school and go to college and then get a job and work the rest of your life. Simple, that’s the plan so I was obedient and got good grades and went to college and was not happy working for someone else. I am, by nature, an incredibly hard worker. I don’t know how to slack off or slow down and I was killing myself working for someone else. I felt like I had no purpose and needed to be doing more. I had to unlearn that and my new philosophy is find what you love to do and turn it into a business! Both of my boys want to be business owners!!

For me the best source for new clients is word of mouth on Social Media. Since I work from home I make sure I post sales and products on Facebook and Instagram so my repeat customers see. They will either buy or share my post and this helps create sales! I also try to stay very engaged with my repeat customers by commenting, liking and sharing their posts. It creates a relationship beyond product/sale and grows to a friendship that promotes your business!
