We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Fedele. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I started my photography journey, I knew I wanted a name that was bold, a little cheeky, and totally unforgettable—just like the images I aim to capture. That’s how Sweet AF Photography was born. At first glance, the name might make people smile or do a double take—and that’s exactly the point. It sparks curiosity and starts conversations, which is what great photography does too.
The fun twist? While “AF” is often used for emphasis in pop culture, in my case it’s actually my initials. So the name is both personal and playful—Sweet – Amanda Fedele – AF. It reflects the heart I put into every shoot, and the personality I bring to each session: genuine, vibrant, and a little bit sassy. I wanted something that felt true to me while still resonating with people who love bold, beautiful, storytelling imagery.
Sweet AF Photography represents more than a catchy brand—it’s a reflection of my creative style. I focus on capturing moments that feel sweet in their authenticity, with an edge that makes them unforgettable. Whether it’s a wedding, a portrait session, or a brand shoot, I want clients to walk away feeling like their photos are not just beautiful—they’re uniquely them… and sweet AF.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started this journey with a deep love for storytelling, the kind that isn’t always posed or perfect, but feels real, vibrant, and a little bit magical.
My path into photography wasn’t traditional—I didn’t grow up in a darkroom or inherit a fancy camera. I found my way into this world through a love of capturing feeling. What started as snapping photos of my friends, family, and most of all, my son AJ, quickly turned into a full-blown obsession with light, emotion, and the way a single photo can make you feel something. I turned that obsession into a business designed to help people feel seen, celebrated, and completely themselves.
I specialize in wedding, family, and brand photography—basically, I help people tell their stories with visuals that are as bold, beautiful, and unfiltered as they are. Whether it’s capturing the chaos and sweetness of a wedding day, elevating a small business with eye-catching brand imagery, or creating soulful portraits that actually look like you, I’m all in. My clients come to me because they’re tired of stiff, cookie-cutter photos. They want work with personality—images that make them say, “That’s SO me.”
What sets me apart? I don’t just take pictures—I create space for connection, confidence, and creativity. I bring energy, vision, and heart to every shoot. And I’m proudest when my clients say things like, “I’ve never felt this good in front of a camera,” or “You captured exactly how that moment felt.”
My love for photography is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating imagery that’s real, radiant, and sweet AF.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Most of my clients find me through word of mouth, social media magic, and a strong dose of personality. I believe the best marketing is showing up as myself, so whether it’s on Instagram, at an event, or just chatting with someone who knows someone, I’m all about real connections. People are drawn to the energy I bring to my work—fun, down-to-earth, and unapologetically creative—and that usually resonates before we even talk about a shoot. I also make sure my photos speak for themselves: authentic, emotion-packed, and full of personality. When clients feel seen in my work, they reach out. And when they work with me once, they usually come back—or send their friends. That’s the sweet AF ripple effect.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
What started as a creative escape during naptime quickly became something so much bigger. When I became a new mom, photography was my side hustle—a way to reconnect with me while capturing the moments that matter. I’d squeeze in shoots between feedings, edit during midnight nursing sessions, and slowly started building something that felt like more than just a hobby. The magic happened when I realized other people saw what I saw: beauty in the real, raw, in-between moments. Word spread, bookings grew, and soon I was turning passion into purpose—and profit. Sweet AF Photography was born out of that chaos and creativity, proving that motherhood doesn’t have to put dreams on hold—it can actually fuel them.
