We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cam Bogle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cam, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Though I was born in the beautiful city of Portland, Maine, we moved a little when I was young, and spent my youth in the city of Burlington, Ontario Canada. For as long as I can remember, Burlington was considered one of the top communities for exceptional quality of life, and had a thriving economy ripe with opportunity for businesses — ranked 5th in Canada.
I had been working on my singing career full time out of high school, when the pandemic hit. I took this time to return to school when I specialized in Business online with McMaster University. In 2022, when we returned to in person performances I had the amazing opportunity to perform as an emerging artist for one of Canada’s biggest festivals, Boots & Hearts.
This was a pivotal moment in my career when I had my ideals confirmed, that I might have enough talent to try to take this journey to another level. Th summer before the festival I had trained to become a Firefighter. The idea of helping others in this way, gave me a sense of purpose that I couldn’t deny. I tested the water, applied to work in Nashville, and was blessed with an opportunity right away.
I was given a crucial decision of giving up what I knew. Here I was at a crossroad. I had been an elite hockey player from the age of 3 to draft year when injury and concussions made my decision clear to pursue my other dream of singing. I remembered an important quote by Wayne Gretzky who I admired, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” I decided that this was a shot that I couldn’t afford not to take.
Early 2023, I packed up a bag and moved to Nashville.
The fire crew that I work with have turned into my brothers, and my work as a Firefighter gives me a sense of fulfillment that’s indescribable.
Since moving, I have had the privilege of playing pickup hockey with guys at the top of their field in the music industry. I have written with notable songwriters and producers. I’m making music that I love. Some of my family now lives close by. There are so many talented artists here in Nashville, but I’m finding my place, my niche. No regrets.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As an artist, fame is generally one of the goals. While I don’t have that yet, getting to this place where I am in my singing career has been an amazing journey so far. I didn’t get here overnight. I didn’t wake up a few months ago, and say to myself, “I want to sing professionally.” I accidentally discovered my love of singing when I was encouraged to enter an elementary school talent show. I was a hockey player. I didn’t expect to love singing as much as I loved playing hockey. I had the opportunity to pursue both.
I began singing at 9 in singing competitions, open mics, and I’ve been part of a lot of unpaid lineups for emerging artists. I’ve taken singing lessons from those considered the best in Toronto, Canada, and here in Nashville. I work on improving my guitar skills every day. I took acting lessons, then direction on performance skills, to improve my on stage presence. I have been honing all aspects of performing on stage since I was young.
I have worked with many producers over the years. I’m really happy with the songs that I’ve written here. My songs have stories, whether mine or not, I want fans of my music to be able to relate at some level to my music. I’ve worked hard for the successes that I have now. Knowing who you are as an artist, and for those listening to your music understanding that and letting you know, is the part of the journey that makes it amazing.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
When I perform, and fans sing my original songs with me. It means that they’re listening to it, and enjoying the music that I’m creating. They’re telling me that I’m doing something right.

How did you build your audience on social media?
When I started to build my TikTok, I looked at what other influencers were doing that people seemed to like. I had to modify it to create my own brand. I quickly learned what viewers expected from me. You need to remain consistent when you figure it out, and to find the time of day when you get the most traffic. For me, it was doing hit covers in my truck, wearing the same clothes. People loved it, and expected it. I was able to build from that.
