We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamara Tanksley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamara below.
Tamara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is turning your moments into art. Turning your moments into art means more than just taking pictures. It’s about capturing how you felt in that exact moment—joyful, confident, connected. My goal is to create images that reflect your true self, so when you look back, you don’t just see a photo, you feel the moment all over again. I celebrate all cultures, all stories, and the beauty in everyday, unfiltered moments.
A lot of people go through life never taking that photo or another example are mothers who are quick to take the photo of their toddler interacting with others, but don’t have many photos of them interacting with their toddler. Small meaningful moments or confident moments of showing off your designs or culture is what I call art.

Tamara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, my name is Tamara Tanksley and my brand is called Meko Images. I got into this industry because taking photos was something I always used to do then I got a camera for my birthday one year. Soon after I joined my college student media outlet as a photographer and that’s when i really got exposed to all different cultures, lifestyles, and opportunities. I took a lot of photos of different cultures and was able to bring their ideas or moments to life. I’m most proud of seeing my clients or friends reactions to the photos I took. As we go through our photo session I can see them gain more confidence about themselves which honestly produces the best photos. It makes me excited to get the photos edited and back to them so they can see their work of art. I want potential clients to know that my brand and work is about creativity, diversity, and a confidence booster.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the option to be as creative as I want in the creative photoshoots. I get excited when I see a photo that is like “The Photo” of the shoot.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
The moment you stop loving what you are doing and it starts to feel more like a job versus a passion is when you need to take a break. A lot of people ask why I don’t take photography as a full time job and that’s because I don’t want to fall out of love with it. Some people look at only the money which is good, but if I’m no longer enjoying taking and editing the photos then a break is needed. Also, choosing what events to take photos of also plays a part for me. I always went towards the events that are culturally more interesting vs the banquet event.
