We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fia Cullen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fia below.
Hi Fia, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think one of the most important ingredients for success is confidence. You can be incredibly talented, but if you don’t have the confidence to put yourself out there or take risks, you will hold yourself back. Confidence is what allows you to turn your potential into results.
I also believe it’s important to pursue what you truly enjoy rather than doing something just because others expect it of you. When you’re genuinely passionate about something, you’re naturally more motivated, and that shows in the quality of your work. I’ve noticed in my own experiences, whether it was in school projects, professional jobs, or extracurriculars that I performed much better and felt more accomplished when I was doing something I cared about, not something I felt pressured into.
Fia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Fia Cullen, I’m a Actress and a Thespian
My family has always been involved in creative fields like visual art, music and acting. I was exposed to musical theatre at a very young age. Music was a constant aspect of our lives. Whether someone one was performing on stage or we were singing together at home, it was always present. Growing up surrounded by artistic expression, naturally led me to develop an appreciation for performance and creativity. I discovered my own creative freedom in acting when I was 9 years old.
I first became interested in acting through a friend who was already working in the industry. Watching them on screen inspired me to explore acting. I took classes and I found that I really enjoyed it. A friend of ours invited me and my sister to be in their commercial for Orgain Kids. The experience was fun and I wanted to do more.
Shortly after filming the commercial, I was signed with representation which was really exciting! My sister and I created an award winning web series, The Talky Talk Show. The web series helped us gain experience and exposure. Since then, I’ve had the exciting privilege to work with many professionals actors and actresses on set and in live shows, they have all inspired me to keep going in the industry.
In addition to acting, I also thrive on the movement and thrill of musical theatre. I’ve had the opportunity to be part of 12 productions so far and I’m looking forward to more opportunities in theater. Live theatre is an experience that is invigorating. I love the whole journey from the first rehearsal to the closing show. It’s so much that goes in the productions and every aspect of it is an experience that promotes personal and professional growth.
Overall, I really enjoy being part of creative projects and collaborating with others. It’s something that keeps me engaged and allows me to keep learning and growing along the way.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal through my acting career is to make sure the people watching my work feel seen, entertained, or heard through the characters I’m portraying. I want to inspire people on and off stage to be the best they can be and to pursue what they love no matter who they are or what they look like.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me, is after all the hard work of building a show, feeling the finished product. Hearing the audience respond positively to the time and effort we put into the show is an amazing feeling. We feel the show more so than see it since we are the ones on stage. Another rewarding aspect of being an actress is getting to know what goes on behind the scenes. it’s fascinating to see all the working parts that help make films, commercials and theater productions happen.
My creative journey so far has given me the privilege to work with amazing people and the opportunity to showcase my talent to which I’m thankful for.
