We were lucky to catch up with Hadassah Barrios recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hadassah , appreciate you joining us today. What was one of the most important lessons you learned in school? Why did that lesson stick with you?
Something important I learned happened at school. I had been struggling with academics and was really losing my confidence. One day, another girl and I had a meeting with the principal in a classroom. The principal told us, “I feel like God wants you to pray about your problems.” So we started praying, voicing our struggles out loud, and asking God to be the center of it all. After the prayer, I felt a huge sense of relief. That moment taught me something valuable: you need to invite God into your problems. I promise it makes everything better—but you have to be willing to let Him help you. That was one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned.
Hadassah , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! My name is Hadassah, and I’m a graduate of Kingdom Life Academy. What made my school different was its focus on hands-on learning and real-world skills instead of just traditional classroom work. Kingdom Life helped me grow in confidence and prepared me for adulthood by teaching me how to take responsibility, work on projects, and think for myself. I want to study to become a park ranger because I enjoy nature and helping others. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for what’s next.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes. One of the hardest times for me was when I was at another school. I really struggled with academics and had to stay after school for tutoring. It got to a point where I was tired and overwhelmed, so I talked to my parents. They started looking for different schools, and that’s how we found Kingdom Life Academy. It was a game changer for me. I went from struggling in class to feeling supported and finally understanding things. It made a big difference in my confidence and how I learn.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I first heard about Kingdom Life Academy through one of my mom’s friends. She had enrolled her children in a camp that the school was hosting. After hearing about their positive experiences, we wanted to learn more about them. So, we scheduled a tour of the school. During the visit, we were impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the school’s approach to hands-on, Christ-centered learning. That experience helped us decide to become part of the Kingdom Life Academy community.
