We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Imani. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Imani below.
Imani, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
My meaning of success has definitely evolved over the years. My definition of success is to be able to achieve a goal and feel joy once it’s complete. I think completing goals can be challenging sometimes and when we eventually get to the finish line, we tend to be drained. For me, I’ve had this mindset to make sure that I find joy in the journey as I complete my goal. I remember getting my first big opportunity to provide makeup services for the lead singer “Lil G” from the group Silk. All I could this was wow.. the journey to get here was so enjoyable. Almost just as much as it was to fly in a private jet because someone recognized my talent. That’s what success looks like.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

From weddings, parties, photoshoots, she does it all. She continues to shine bright and elevates as she uses her gift to bless and touch others.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
My clients are more like family now. I’ve been makeup for almost 10 years now and I’ve serviced a lot of people. As you grow and evolve over the years, you start to build relationships with consistent clients. Not only that but you have to remember, I get to be apart of special moments like weddings, engagements, maternity shoots, graduations, etc. It’s almost hard to forget moments because they are so memorable for the client and myself. I pride myself in keeping in contact whether it’s through a text or reacting to social media posts. My clients have a MAJOR contribution to my business. Their loyalty means everything to me.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I remember getting wrongfully fired from my very first makeup job. It was heartbreaking. I had no idea what I was going to do next. By that time, I built a nice clientele and I decided to act on faith. For the next 6 months, makeup sustained me. I was traveling from city to city doing what I loved without missing a beat. Even though I was sooo hurt by what had happened, God turned things around for me. It was a journey that taught me so many different things.. be resilient. Be bold. Do it anyway!
