Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mark Ridley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mark, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career.
Unfortunately, our system of schooling has turned into indoctrination as opposed to really teaching our children the world truths and proper history.. Often it’s how to not offend others with true facts. I was homeschooled. which opened my eyes to things I would have never have learned in a public school
Mark, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, I started out in life as a young man playing trumpet and sax.. We had a family band that traveled all over. I later began to model clothes. Being featured in magazines and on covers and many runways, This led me to acting and started my career as an actor . Doing stage , Tv, film, and commercials . Later I started a trucking company… and ran it for many years, freeing me up to pursue Acting. I began to write and make short films.
I think some of the things I’m most proud of .Is using my skills to help others by being able to employ them, whether in the trucking business, or in the entertainment business, and making some thought-provoking film.. Speaking my truths as a film maker is important to me and I believe to others as well.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
let me briefly explain.. When I started writing my award-winning film, Stolen Breath: The Truth Revealed. I felt in my soul I had something. But wanted help and input. So contacted a person that I respected as an entertainment professional So I shared 20 pages of my script. The feedback was nice but at the same time very discouraging. And I walked away having been told to not to write what I was writing and to write something else, something simple
I was determined not to let this stop me. So I continued and finished the script and later the film.. I’ll never forget the moment I one of my team grabbed me and took me to look out the door. I saw the large line of people around the corner waiting to come into my screening of the film And now to this day, this film affects people in so many ways.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think one of the most rewarding things about being a creative person. Is leaving something that may inspire others. And once it’s created, it can tell a story for many, many years, in some cases, a lifetime.
