We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I came up with name Protect Our Stolen Treasures (POST) because we started as a group of parents who loss our children to police brutality.. it seemed as no justice or responsibility was being taking in the deaths of our children. We loss our children yet society wants to discredit the value they had in the world.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My only child Kimoni C. Davis was killed in 2015 with his friend Airshaan Warren in an alleged police chase. These young men was pushed off the road by ohio state patrol. Officers called the chase off stating a traffic violation was not worth the chase. Although Damon Caruso started the pursuit he refused to end the chance. He claimed he never got close to the vehicle the young men was in. The Voice of Detroit newspaper shows a different view with tire tracks showing otherwise.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my co-founder and President of POST in New York we both were from Michigan. We were at an event speaking on the death of our children by the hand of law enforcement. We realized that there’s no support for parents who children have died by police.and the rest became history.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
It’s been 10 years since my only child was killed. I never received justice. Unfortunately with officers having immunity they can kill whoever and majority walk away with not even a citation. I probably won’t get justice for my child. My organization make sure other parents get the resources needed
