We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tannizia Gasper a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tannizia, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
There’s a proverb that says, “A good person leaves an inheritance for their grandchildren.” That wisdom has always resonated deeply with me—not just because of its truth, but because of what it requires.
For someone to leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, their children must first receive more than enough—not just materially, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. And that’s where I believe many of us get stuck.
Growing up in my community, I recognized a painful deficit—not just in finances, but in mindset. We didn’t lack dreams. We lacked access to the thinking patterns, disciplines, and beliefs that make those dreams sustainable. I saw how cycles of scarcity weren’t only economic—they were generational, deeply rooted in how we viewed ourselves and our relationship with money, success, and self-worth.
That realization lit a fire in me.
I set out on a journey to rewrite that narrative—not just for myself, but for everyone who’s ever felt like they were meant for more but didn’t know where to start. I wrote Renew Your Mind for Success to help others do exactly that: transform their thinking and build a foundation strong enough to support lasting success.
Because before we talk about legacy in terms of wealth or property, we need to talk about legacy in terms of mindset. Unity, discipline, consistency, and a renewed mind—these are the invisible inheritances that fuel visible, lasting outcomes.
My mission is to help people, especially those in underserved communities, upgrade their inner world so they can change their outer world. To shift from surviving to leading. From temporary wins to generational breakthroughs.
When we renew our minds, we don’t just break cycles—we build new legacies. And that’s the story behind everything I do.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
For a long time, I believed that if I wasn’t constantly grinding, constantly proving myself, or constantly achieving, I wasn’t valuable. I tied my self-worth to my productivity. Rest felt like laziness. Slowing down felt like failure. I had inherited this unspoken mindset from my environment—where scarcity and struggle were normalized, and where being busy was a badge of honor.
But deep down, I was exhausted. I realized I was building a life on burnout instead of balance.
The turning point came when I was juggling multiple responsibilities—working, serving, building my business—and I still felt stuck. Despite the hustle, my results weren’t matching the effort. That frustration forced me to pause and reflect. I realized that mindset—not motion—was the missing piece.
That was when I began the journey that would become the foundation of Renew Your Mind for Success. I had to unlearn the lie that busyness equals success and embrace a new truth:
My value doesn’t come from how much I do—it comes from how clearly I think and how intentionally I move.
Once I shifted my mindset, I made better decisions. I became more focused. And ironically, I started achieving more by doing less—but with greater clarity and purpose.
Now, I teach others that success isn’t just about action—it’s about alignment. You don’t have to hustle your way to worth. You renew your mind, and the rest flows from there.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There was a moment in my life when everything I had worked for seemed to crumble right before my eyes. I had been dedicated, hardworking, and committed to my role, so when a senior management position became vacant, I naturally thought, “This is my time.” Many others believed it too.
But I wasn’t selected.
Not only was I passed over, but the weight of disappointment became heavier when I noticed something else: critical responsibilities were quietly taken off my plate. Decisions I used to be part of were made without me. It felt like I was being phased out, like the warm glow of the sun slowly overshadowed by heavy unrelenting clouds leaving me cold and unseen. People around me speculated, “Surely, you’re going to resign after this.”
And honestly? I thought about it.
But one day, I made a decision that had change everything—not just my career but my mindset. Instead of giving in to the blazing fury bubbling below the surface, and my confidence being crumbled like a fragile sandcastle under the tide.” I took a deep breath and I asked myself, “How can I make this mean something?”
That’s when I decided to focus on growth. I enrolled in a program and began studying—using every free moment to pour into my personal and professional development. At the time, it felt like planting seeds in a field that no one else could see.
Fast forward about eighteen months. I graduated from that program with new skills and a renewed sense of purpose. While I was on vacation shortly after, the phone rang. It was work. They asked me to act in that very position I’d been overlooked for.
Six months later, I wasn’t just acting. I was confirmed.
Looking back, it wasn’t the situation that defined me—it was the way I responded to it. The disappointment didn’t defeat me; it propelled me. My decision to renew my mind and focus on growth unlocked a door I didn’t even realize I was building at the time.
What about you? Maybe you’re feeling stuck, overlooked, or even undervalued. It’s easy to let those moments define you, but here’s the truth: the power – to turn it around lies- within YOU. You can unlock that power, just like I did, by renewing your mindset.
The journey taught me three things:
1. Disappointments are detours, not dead ends.
2. Investing in yourself is never wasted time.
3. A renewed mind creates opportunities—even when others can’t see them yet.
“Challenges are life’s way of asking: Will you rise and let them shape you, or crumble and let them break you?”
