We were lucky to catch up with Kate Miedreich recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate , thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The defining moment that changed the trajectory of my career landed in my inbox in January 2022. At the time, I was working for a prominent company as a top sales pro, ranked number five in the nation for lead generation, and most importantly, I loved my job, my team, and my clients. That email let me know that a new corporate mandate clashed with a personal health decision I’d made, and as a result, I was terminated.
I won’t sugarcoat how that felt. It was an absolute shock, and it cut deeper than I like to admit. I went from feeling on top of the world: debt-free, thriving in my career, loving my shoe collection, and surrounded by colleagues I adored, to feeling worthless. At one point, I honestly believed that the gum on the bottom of my expensive sneakers was more valuable than I was.
What helped me move forward, slowly but surely, was a combination of rest, reflection, and my unwavering support system. Right after everything happened, I booked a beach vacation to begin to process my hurt, anger, and confusion. My family, especially my mom and dad, were incredible. They never once criticized my choices or tried to “fix” me. They simply gave me the space to figure out my next steps at my own pace.
In the weeks and months that followed, there was no single “lightbulb” moment. Instead, I felt a gradual shift within soul. I realized I no longer had to fear my own potential or the God-given dreams I had pushed aside for years. Suddenly, I had 40 free extra hours a week, so I used that time to pursue a life coaching certification. It was a dream I’d had since high school but never had the time to explore before.
Above all, I came to understand that a firing, or any career setback, does not have to be your final chapter. It can be the intro to the greatest story you will ever write: your life. Embracing this mindset shift gave me the freedom to see all the possibilities and it’s led me to all of the work that I do now in the mental health and wellness space.
I don’t just have a “job” anymore; I’ve got daily permission to dream. Sometimes, the very thing we think will break and destroy us is what unlocks our God-given dreams and potential.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Life Coach who’s deeply committed to helping entrepreneurial women grow personally and professionally without compromising their values or well-being. I’m certified through the Wholeness Coaching School and I’m currently working on my master’s degree in mental health counseling. My ongoing education continues to expand my skillset for guiding women, especially when emotional or psychological roadblocks pop up.
I got into this line of work because I noticed how many women feel torn between chasing their professional dreams and staying true to their core values. Over time, I realized we don’t have to choose! We can honor our potential, reach our career aspirations, and remain faithful to the dream of the season, our values and the relationships that matter most to us. That’s the heart of my mission: to empower women to thrive in both business and life, all while staying anchored in who they were created to be.
When clients come to me, they’re usually battling doubts, struggling with clarity, or feeling guilty about their success. Through a combination of one-on-one coaching sessions, group masterminds, mindset tools, accountability, and spiritual encouragement, I help my clients unpack limiting beliefs and design a practical, faith-aligned strategy for growth. That can mean creating daily routines, setting boundaries, crafting a sustainable business plan, or simply learning to dream bigger without feeling like something else must suffer. I place a strong emphasis on customizing the process to each client because no two women are the same. We tailor everything to their goals, personality, and unique gifts.
Outside of my work, I’m a big Mets fan who loves to travel and spends way too much time perfecting my sourdough chocolate chip cookie recipe. These personal passions keep me inspired and balanced, and they remind me that success isn’t just about checking boxes, it’s about living fully and joyfully in every season of life. If I could leave potential clients or followers with one message, it would be this: you don’t have to choose between a thriving business and a meaningful life. You can have both, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you on that journey.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining moments of resilience in my life happened when I was a 19-year-old college sophomore living in Washington D.C. I suffered a bad fall that led to a concussion, and doctors told me not to worry and that I’d be fine. But within a few weeks, I felt myself slipping away physically, and doing simple tasks like waking up for class, completing assignments, and concentrating became very difficult. My emotions and feelings slowly began to slip away, and I remember thinking that I felt like a ghost in my own body. Eventually, in the middle of my junior year, I had to leave school and go back home because life had become so hard.
What ultimately saved me was my mom’s unwavering support. She was at every doctor’s appointment, pushing for answers and helping me along the way. Finally, she found a doctor who correctly diagnosed my condition as a traumatic brain injury impacting 6 different areas of my brain. My mom took me to highly specialized neurological treatments twice a week for months while still juggling a full-time job and caring for the rest of our family. Thanks to her love, dedication, and the proper diagnosis, I was able to fully recover and return to college. As a result of that experience, I changed my major and eventually graduated from college at 25 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology (a milestone some doctors told me would never happen).
That experience stuck with me for a long time, even years after I recovered physically. But now, looking back eighteen years later, I see how it shaped my unshakable resilience and fortitude and taught me that I can do anything if I want it badly enough. Whenever I feel nervous, whether it’s reaching out to a new client or tackling a new project, I remind myself that if I could overcome my darkest days, I can handle whatever comes next.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that you have to be perfect before you can start. Growing up, I believed I had to be perfect in every area of my life or I wasn’t qualified for the job, the company, or the leadership role etc. Because of that, I missed out on experiences and opportunities by waiting for “perfect” conditions. Somewhere along the way in my thirties, I realized that perfectionism was just an excuse to hold myself back. Letting go of that limiting belief is a daily challenge, but there’s so much freedom in allowing yourself to just begin and figure it out as you go!
