We recently connected with Jennifer Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
In 2011 I was between jobs. I had two young children and desperately wanted to be home with them; however, working or staying at home was not a choice, or so I didn’t think it was a choice. I was wrong. I immediately took the risk of starting my own company with no money and a lot of phone calls to people who I had worked with in the past to see if they needed any assistance on the projects they were working on. I got a lot of noes, but those few yeses took a risk on me and gave me the confidence and courage to keep going. Today I own a couple of businesses and am so thankful I was able to be home while raising my kiddos.

Jennifer, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Jennifer (you can call me Jenn). I’m the owner of Roadmap Finances, a CFO + Bookkeeping Services Firm for small business owners, individuals, and families who want to build a legacy and invest in what matters. My journey with money has been deeply personal. Growing up, I witnessed both sides of the financial spectrum – from wealth to poverty – and struggled to reconcile my faith with financial success. After years of messy finances, I learned that when money is stewarded well, it can be a powerful tool for changing lives and creating lasting impact.
My love for numbers came naturally, and it is there I found my calling in helping others transform their relationship with money. Today, I guide business owners, individuals, and families in organizing their finances so that they can build a legacy that serves their family and community. As a business owner who’s been debt-free for over four years, and who is still working to build a legacy for my family and community, I understand both the practical and emotional sides of financial transformation.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals. A beautiful website, networking, and follow ups are all important for business, but there is nothing better than clients, family, and friends referring your business.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve had to pivot my life and my career multiple times. It is always scary when big change happens, however I’ve learned resilience and adaptability with these pivots and can navigate them both pretty well these days. Resilience and Adaptability are lessons that serve you well in life and in business and forever.
