We recently connected with Michelle Crim and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Michelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Dynamic Development Strategies, LLC believes in the power of nonprofits to make a difference in our communities. That belief drives everything we do and is rooted in a clear understanding of the challenges nonprofit leaders face. I started this company after recognizing how many smaller organizations lacked access to the strategic support, resources, and best practices that larger nonprofits often have at their disposal.
New and emerging charities are often led by passionate, capable people who are expected to handle planning, fundraising, and team-building without much guidance and I wanted to help these talented people. By offering practical tools and customized support, Dynamic Development Strategies helps these organizations grow stronger, work smarter, and serve more effectively.
This mission matters because stronger nonprofits create stronger communities. Helping these organizations build sustainable systems, raise more funds, and develop confident leadership gives purpose and direction to our work.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Michelle Crim, CFRE, founder and president of Dynamic Development Strategies, LLC, a woman-owned consulting firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. With over two decades of experience in fundraising and nonprofit management, I work with organizations to build capacity, strengthen teams, and develop strategies that lead to long-term sustainability. Since launching my firm in 2019, we have supported more than 90 clients, submitted over 400 grant applications, written 250 blog articles, and delivered more than 70 training sessions.
I began my career in special events and worked my way through roles in higher education, healthcare, and social services. Along the way, I saw firsthand how many small and emerging nonprofits struggled to access the same tools, systems, and resources that larger organizations often have at their fingertips. I started Dynamic Development Strategies to help fill that gap. Today, I partner with nonprofit leaders who want practical guidance, strategic direction, and trusted support as they pursue mission-driven work.
Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed by planning, fundraising, or team alignment. I help them move forward with clarity. Whether it’s a grant strategy, an annual giving campaign, a development plan, or a board training, I tailor every engagement to meet the organization’s goals and challenges. My background in donor relations, campaign management, board development, and executive leadership gives me a strong foundation to help nonprofits grow with confidence.
What sets me apart is a combination of experience, strategy, and empathy. I’ve walked in the shoes of a development director and executive director, and I understand the pressure nonprofit leaders face. I’m also proud of the professional community I’ve built through service, mentoring, and volunteer leadership. From leading the Women’s Policy Forum to serving on the boards of Association of Fundraising Professionals, Fort Worth Metro Chapter, Grant Professional Association North Texas Chapter, and Camp Fire First Texas, I remain committed to advancing the sector.
I’m most proud of the impact my work has had on organizations and the people they serve. Whether I’m mentoring a new fundraiser or guiding a board through strategic planning, my goal remains the same—help nonprofits make a deeper, lasting difference in their communities.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for new clients has consistently been referrals from nonprofit board members and past or current clients. Board members often serve as ambassadors and connectors, and they understand the value of bringing in strategic support. Current and former clients also play a key role by recommending my services based on firsthand results. These trusted relationships help open doors to organizations that need practical solutions and experienced guidance. Word-of-mouth referrals continue to be the strongest and most rewarding way to grow my business.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I’ve worked hard to build a positive culture with both staff and contractors at Dynamic Development Strategies. We follow the Golden Rule and treat each other with respect, trust, and professionalism. Everyone brings valuable expertise to the table, and I believe in giving people the flexibility to work in ways that fit their strengths and schedules. That approach has created a collaborative, low-stress environment where people feel valued and supported.
Earlier in my career, I experienced leadership that was more about control than trust, and that shaped how I lead today. I focus on being an authentic and servant leader who listens, supports, and sets clear expectations. I’ve also found a unique niche in hiring professionals who have retired from full-time roles but still want to contribute part-time. Their experience adds tremendous value, and the flexible structure works well for everyone. High morale comes from being seen, heard, and trusted.
