We were lucky to catch up with Danielle Angeloni recently and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Shooting the music video for my song Summer (What’s Around) was a big “aha” moment for me. A few of my very best friends collaborated on the making of the song and video – including Kayla Zuskin my co-writer/guitarist and the featured dancer in the video, Erica Messonier. I was standing on a rooftop in New York City overlooking Manhattan thinking to myself “I am doing it.” Collaborating and creating with people I love and respect is my most favorite thing to do. Erica was my best friend in high school and just so happened to be on break from a broadway national tour. The timing was perfect and my friend Craig Parker did a beautiful job filming and directing. It felt like a full circle moment – I love those!

Danielle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was singing before I could walk and dancing before I could walk – I have videos to prove it! I was lucky enough to be born into a musical family, and proud that I have dedicated my life to making and sharing music. I write and perform Jazz/Pop/Soul music all around southern California and hope to expand and do some touring soon. Something that makes me different? I am a music therapist and have the unique perspective and ability to read a room and connect with my audience. I feel its an intuition actually, to be able to feel and then share that authentically. I love collaborating with other creators – songwriters, producers, arrangers, film makers, photographers etc. I am grateful to be part of my own ever-growing creative collective here in San Diego. Everyday I make the choice to wake up, use my voice, and tell a story through what I sing and how I sing it. I love making people smile!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I get to play, everyday! I fulfill my inner child over and over again by incorporating variety and playfulness into my schedule. The true reward is in the making of the creation – the therapeutic process of turning life’s offerings and dealings into something beautiful.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
While the reward is truly in the making of the music and art, I do hope to share my music with as many people as possible. I’d like to tour in South America (where I have my biggest listener following!) and Europe. I hope to make someone’s life a little easier through a song or a performance of mine that they encounter. The mission is always to have fun and spread the love!
