Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jerry Tsagamilis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jerry thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
SkateYou is the only app that lets skaters discover spots, connect with each other, and compete—all in one place. Our online contests are a game-changer. Skaters from anywhere in the world can upload their clips, win cash, gear, and get noticed by brands. It’s not just about watching—it’s about participating. We’re creating real opportunities for skaters to showcase their talent globally.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started SkateYou to give back to the skate world. It began with a simple idea: a map of skate spots and online contests where skaters could earn rewards by doing what they love. From there, it grew fast—skaters from all over joined, pros endorsed us, and the brand came to life with boards, shirts, and gear. Our goal has always been to build real opportunities for skaters and keep the culture connected and alive.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
When we first launched contests on SkateYou, we wanted to reward real effort—so we introduced the idea of earning our custom boards strictly through skating. You couldn’t buy them. You had to enter contests, land tricks, and earn coins. It was our way of keeping it authentic and giving skaters something truly earned. But after a huge wave of demand, we finally made a limited drop available for purchase—and they sold out fast. That just showed us how much the community valued the boards, whether they earned them or bought them.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Our reputation grew from staying true to the culture. SkateYou is free to download and connects skaters from all over the world, but what really gave us credibility was having over 100 pro skaters—icons in the game—endorsing us with their own SkateYou photos. That kind of support doesn’t come easy. And beyond that, our features are built specifically for skaters: spot discovery, global contests, real rewards.
