We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tonita And Iralynn T&I Music Media Singers /Song Writers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tonita and Iralynn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
Our unexpected problems include being prepared to face disappointment head-on and accomplishing the assignment alone.
In July of 2024, we released our latest album entitled “Ready”. As we planned our release, we came upon a couple of unexpected issues. As the release date dawn near, our musician was unresponsive and we were forced to decide to perform without background vocalists. It was less than two weeks away from our big performance, and still no musician. Creating this project
has taught us the importance of preparation. We had to be ready for the failed promises of others. We were so devastated. All of our hard work, late-night studio sessions, and weekly rehearsals were done to be fully prepared. We were saddened because we have helped, supported, and kept our word, and showed up for so many people and their projects… it was hard to see how some people could just look over you. But we are so thankful that we built our foundation on God! God had to remind us that he is always with us.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Blessed with a flourishing sister bond, T&I has their roots in traditional, neo-soul, and contemporary gospel music. Tonita and Iralynn were born into the artistic composition at the young ages of two and four, under the leadership of their parents, Mr. Glynell (father) and Mrs. Nora (mother). T&I captivating, real-life experiences detailed through the lyrics of their music allow audiences to feel connected and inspired as they blend their gifts of song, creativity, and faith.
T & I spent our formative years surrounded by family, faith, and music. They have participated in many church programs, talent shows, concerts, weddings, and various benefit programs. These two young women of God have also provided background vocals for many up-and-coming artists and have been nominated for numerous awards. They were a part of the Truth Heals Hurt Award Show 2024 and were awarded “Female Entertainers of the year”. Tonita and Iralynn have released 4 CD projects, 9 singles, and 4 books. Their newest project, “Ready,” was released on July 20, 2024.
T&I has been singing together as a group for 26 years and is still growing stronger in God and together as sisters. Their mission has never changed, and that is to do the work for the Kingdom! Their foundation is set, and their feet are planted in Jesus. T&I is determined to do Jesus… and that is to be READY… FULLY PREPARED!! Helping God’s people with the gifts and talents He has entrusted to them to be ready for the Kingdom!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
We believe it is a huge reward to be able to use our gift of singing to help encourage, inspire, and uplift others. Being able to share the music God has entrusted us with is a blessing to us. We are sharing our life experiences through song and how God has helped us cope through life’s journey.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
We think society would best support artists if they would look beyond outer appearances. Don’t limit someone based on their size.
