We recently connected with Tony G and have shared our conversation below.
Tony, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
K2Q is a platform that constantly aims to positively impact pop culture. One of the most impactful conversations that we’ve had thus far would probably be our ongoing conversations about the pursuit of self healing and therapy within the Black Community. It seems like the idea of therapy was somewhat taboo for our generations of the past, but now we’re seeing millennials, along with Generations X and Z stand at the forefront of these conversations as we all try to navigate beyond the traumas of the everyday Black experience.

Tony, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
King 2 Queen Talk (also known as “K2Q”) is a weekly streaming show that can be seen on Instagram LIVE (@king2queentalk) every Sunday at 7pm est. This no holds bar show is hosted by the show’s creator and show runner, Tony G, along with his co-host, content creator and business woman, Aly J.
K2Q has a mission statement that we aim to continuously produce within our content. Our running mantra is “We provide the Black, grown, and unfiltered perspective on life, love, and everything in between.” So with that said, we have countless conversations that surround pop culture, self awareness, and relationships.
In a world where society and social media has created a narrative that there are no more good single Black men out there, and all of the Black women are too successful to notice the “everyday blue collar Black man”, this platform was created to open the doors of conversations that would constantly challenge us, stretch us, and empower us. It is through these types of difficult conversations that we will become the change that we want to see!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a content creator is that on King 2 Queen Talk we talk about real issues that most people seem to be reluctant to talk about, and it is our initial conversation that opens the door for others to talk to their loved ones from a place of empathy instead of judgment.
On K2Q we’ve talked about the ups and downs of love….from monogamy to polygamy, and from forgiveness to chucking up the deuce (saying goodbye to a negative experience); we cover it all!!! Our citizens of the kingdom (our loving name for our viewers) keep our comment sections lit with reassurance that they too are connecting with our subject matters, and they’ve also said that these somewhat controversial conversations are necessary.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve had to unlearn as a content creator is that everyone is not going to understand your vision. It is my belief that God will place the vision within you…He will seemingly “call you to it” as if it is like a moth to a flame. Listen, if/when God calls you to something, know that the call was NOT a conference call so not everybody is going to get it.
I’ve learned that whether the people closest to me are willing to support me or not (and thank God I’ve been fortunate to have a handful that have), it is my duty to answer my call. If God gave you the vision then He will also send the provision! We must stand ten toes down and know that all things are working out for our good as long as we stay committed to the vision.
