We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Davina Lloyd. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Davina below.
Davina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My name is Davina Lloyd, and the mission behind my work was born out of a moment of reflection—sitting in the gym, having a heartfelt conversation with my friend and trainer. I kept thinking about the men and young boys in my life who were silently struggling—facing job loss, divorce, PTSD, lack of support, and the effects of violence and bullying in schools. I felt a deep conviction that something needed to be done. That’s when I decided to launch a Men’s Empowerment Conference, designed to provide mentorship, professional development, mental health awareness, and community support for men of all ages.
The first year, the community came together with me to make it happen. The second year, I secured some sponsorships and donations, but it still wasn’t enough—so I started using my own funds. It was then that mentors and coaches encouraged me to start a nonprofit and seek grant opportunities so the work could be sustainable. That led to the creation of People Over Profit Lloyd Foundation, Inc., a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to empowering men, supporting youth mentorship, and addressing critical social issues like mental health, violence, and access to economic resources. I started this non profit in the legacy of my Grandfather as I used to help him at the men’s shelter back home and I served on the prison ministry at my church, and I was the only woman on the Board in the county I lived in to help with housing and development.
In addition, I founded Diamond Dynasty Productions, LLC to support small and minority-owned businesses in the community. I started by helping others with financial planning, branding, and marketing—just doing what I loved. I was also doing restaurant reviews for fun. But then a local news anchor pointed out that I had naturally branded myself and should consider consulting professionally. That gave me the push I needed to take my services seriously and start charging for what I do best.
I recently graduated from the Waccamaw American Leadership Forum, part of a national network committed to building stronger communities by strengthening leaders. That experience solidified what I already knew—my purpose is to help others reach their fullest potential. Whether it’s men finding strength through life’s challenges, youth gaining mentorship and hope, or entrepreneurs accessing the tools to grow their businesses—I’m here to help people grow personally and professionally.
My mission isn’t just meaningful to me; it’s personal. I’ve seen the gaps in our systems, and felt the call to serve. And I believe when we put people over profit, we all rise together.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Davina Lloyd, and I am the Founder and CEO of Diamond Dynasty Productions, LLC (DDP) and People Over Profit Lloyd Foundation, Inc. (POP). I’m a Business Analyst and Contract Manager by profession, but at my core, I am a servant leader, strategist, and advocate deeply committed to faith-based service, community empowerment, and purpose-driven impact.
My journey into business, ministry, and community service is rooted in legacy. Growing up, I watched my grandfather serve tirelessly at a men’s shelter in Philadelphia, and I had the honor of assisting him. That early exposure to compassion and advocacy planted the seeds of purpose in my life. Over the years, my passion grew from serving on the prison ministry and helping incarcerated men transition back into society to becoming the only woman on my county’s Housing and Development board—where I helped working families and homeless individuals secure permanent housing.
Through DDP, I offer business consulting, leadership development, motivational coaching, and strategic elevation services. I work with individuals, nonprofits, and businesses to create scalable solutions and impactful growth. Whether it’s through free consultations, personal and professional development, job readiness programs, or creative empowerment events, I meet people where they are and help them rise. I also organize workshops, breakout sessions, networking events, trade programs, and headshot/photo opportunities—especially focused on men’s empowerment, youth mentorship, and support for families with children with disabilities.
What sets me apart is the holistic and faith-filled approach I bring to everything I do. My service is not transactional—it’s transformational. I work to restore dignity, ignite purpose, and provide resources and real-world tools to those often overlooked. From helping veterans access services to guiding survivors of domestic violence through healing and housing, I see each client as a person with potential—not a problem to solve.
I’m proud of founding the Annual International Men’s Empowerment Conference, which equips men of all ages with tools for personal and professional success. I’m also proud of the many lives that have been impacted through my nonprofit POP, which honors my grandfather’s legacy by continuing to uplift and support underserved communities.
Ultimately, I want people to know that my work is led by faith, grounded in excellence, and fueled by love for humanity. I believe in building legacy, not just business. And as Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” My mission is to let my light shine by serving others with purpose, passion, and power.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I started building my audience on social media years ago when I was one of the top female promoters in the Tri-State area (Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Delaware). I was known for hosting upscale mansion parties, galas, youth fundraisers, VIP Live Boxing Events and community events. Back then, I was promoting in-person experiences, but social media helped amplify my reach and build buzz for everything I was doing.
When I relocated to Myrtle Beach, I naturally transitioned into highlighting the local community. I began posting restaurant reviews, sharing videos, pictures, and offering behind-the-scenes insights into small and minority-owned businesses. I used my platform to spotlight others, while also helping them with marketing, branding, business planning, financial statements, and startup support.
One day, a well-known news anchor approached me to hire me as her booking agent. She told me, “You’ve already branded yourself—you just don’t realize how much value you bring. You’re leaving money on the table.” That moment was pivotal. She encouraged me to start my own consulting firm and nonprofit, based on all the noble work I was already doing. That confirmation helped me realize the power of my platform and purpose.
As I continued traveling to exotic countries and sharing my experiences online, my reach grew even more. People were drawn to the authenticity of my posts, the transparency in my storytelling, and the passion I put into every piece of content.
My advice for anyone starting out:
Be authentic. People connect with the real you. Don’t chase trends—be the trend.
Build genuine relationships. Network with intention, and collaborate with others who align with your values.
Share your story. Talk about your passions, experiences, and purpose. Your audience will find you when you show up as your true self.
Be consistent and creative. Set yourself apart by offering value in unique ways, whether it’s education, inspiration, or entertainment.
Most importantly, stay true to your mission. When you lead with service and passion, your platform will naturally grow in the right direction.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life came when I became a single mother. I had to put my social life on hold and completely shift my focus to building a stable future for my children. During that season, it was all about faith, family, and focus—my routine was work, church, home, and school.
I worked full-time while also attending college full-time in an accelerated program so I could earn my degree faster. Every spare moment was dedicated to creating a better life for my kids. I also took it upon myself to attend homeownership workshops and first-time homebuyer classes so I could educate myself on the process of purchasing a home. That knowledge paid off—literally. I was able to buy our very first dream home, and I’ll never forget the joy and excitement on my children’s faces when we moved in.
That experience taught me resilience, sacrifice, and the importance of being intentional about your goals. It was a challenging chapter, but it shaped me into the woman, mother, and leader I am today. Sometimes the pivot isn’t glamorous—but it’s purposeful. And that pivot laid the foundation for everything I’ve been able to build since.
