We recently connected with Vanessa Betance and have shared our conversation below.
Vanessa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
We take risks all the time – no matter who you are or where you’re from. Personally, I’ve taken tons of risks, starting from giving my entire family, boss, friends, school -my entire world a 2 week notice that I’m leaving my home in Chicago to chase a dream by moving to Miami – with no job, just a place to crash temporarily, a dream and an incredible amount of Belief in myself- all at the age of 22. If I never took that risk fir major risk of my life – I would have never would have unlocked my passion for creative marketing and traveling the world to lead all I do with empathy – the way I do now. My main focus of this conversation is to emphasize the importance of believing in yourself in order to take risks that will lead you to places and people that are more and beyond and greater than you can ever have imagined.

Vanessa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Creative Marketing Unicorn vet of 20 years! I am Latina who helps small business owners grow their brands and businesses with strategy and soul. Helping hardworking Small Businesses with making their vision come true with clarity, confidence and most importantly, authentically.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I’ve always freelanced as a “part time hustle” or I ran my own “mini” businesses. Therefore, when the time came for me to formalize my freelance marketing services, I knew that I had to shift gears on how I was going to present myself and decide on who I wanted to serve – who was I able to help the most?? This moment in time came after I sold my part of a another small business I was co-founder of, a flower and experiential shop. This gave me the opportunity to treat my own brand as a client and pour into my own as I pour into others.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Monthly checkins and Loom is great! Using tools to keep them engaged and open lines of communication to ensure that texts and messages don’t get crossed or bypassed.
Keeping you clients engaged with their brand is crucial !
