We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Briana Ramagos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Briana below.
Briana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea for A Sweet Lady came from something really simple, but deeply personal. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, especially after meals; and for me, it was always a cookie. That simple craving turned into curiosity, and curiosity turned into creativity. It all started with one recipe.
Even before I shared my cookies with anyone, I was already thinking like a business owner; sketching logo ideas, researching Texas cottage food laws, and looking into packaging and branding. When I finally let my family and friends try them, their response was overwhelming. They were asking for more, wanting to place orders, and encouraging me to take it seriously. That gave me the final push I needed.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen, watching the women in my family cook and bake with so much care and love. My grandparents also owned their own food business, so I saw firsthand what it looked like to pour your heart into something and serve your community through food. Seeing their dedication and community impact heavily influenced me and taught me that food is more than just food. It’s how we connect, celebrate, and show love.
From the beginning, I didn’t want to create just another cookie business. I wanted A Sweet Lady to feel different. I envisioned it as a brand that honors women, celebrates joy and comfort, and embraces the sweet, simple moments that bring meaning to our everyday lives. It was important to me that every cookie carry a deeper message, of kindness, connection, and love.
From there, I focused on building brand awareness. I began connecting with neighbors, offered samples to gather feedback, donated cookies to my local fire station, and signed up for vendor events so I could engage directly with my community. Those efforts helped me build early momentum and real connections.
What made me certain this was a worthwhile endeavor was the emotional response I received. I wasn’t solving a problem in the traditional sense. I was offering warmth, nostalgia, and a brand that made people feel seen. I was creating a brand with heart.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Briana, the founder of A Sweet Lady, a Texas-based cookie brand born from my deep love for homemade desserts, family roots, and the joy found in life’s simple, sweet moments. I grew up surrounded by strong women in the kitchen and was greatly influenced by my grandparents, who ran their own food business. Baking became my creative outlet and a way to connect with others.
A Sweet Lady offers gourmet, made-from-scratch cookies in unique flavors that bring comfort and joy. I focus on quality, presentation, and creating a brand experience that feels personal and thoughtful. What sets me apart is the heart behind everything I do. This isn’t just about selling cookies; it’s about sharing a little sweetness, one moment at a time.
I’m most proud of how the brand has already connected with so many people through community events, word of mouth, and small acts of kindness. If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s that life’s too short not to be sweet.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One important lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that success has to look perfect from the start. Early on, I felt pressured to have everything flawless; perfect photos, a polished brand story, and a seamless plan. I realized that chasing perfection was holding me back from truly connecting with my audience and growing my business.
I also had to learn to be confident in myself and my products, trusting that they were good enough. More than that, I had to have faith and trust that God had it all worked out. I learned that once I took action and stepped forward with intention, everything would come together in its own time. Embracing that mindset allowed me to move past fear and doubt and focus on sharing my journey authentically. It’s a lesson in faith, confidence, and taking that first step even when the path isn’t perfectly clear.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my journey came when I decided to stop overthinking and finally launch A Sweet Lady. I had been holding onto the idea for a while and dreaming about what it could become. I kept waiting for the “perfect time,” which honestly, never came.
What pushed me to pivot was a moment of realization: if I didn’t take a leap of faith now, I might never do it. I was juggling work, motherhood, and life in general, but something in me knew this dream wouldn’t go away until I gave it a real chance. So, I shifted my mindset from “someday” to “start now.”
That pivot wasn’t just about starting a business; it was about choosing myself. I had to step into confidence, trust my gifts, and believe that what I had to offer mattered. Since then, the journey has had its ups and downs, but it’s been the most rewarding pivot I’ve ever made. It taught me that sometimes the biggest changes start with a single decision to bet on yourself.
