We were lucky to catch up with Tracy Lamourie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tracy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I help people and their passion projects – whether its their book, their business, their film, their not for profit find success and expand their possibilities by getting them seen and heard in major media, in the online world and in the real world – finding them TV, radio, podcast, newspaper and magazine opportunities and speaking engagements, parts, partnerships, sponsors – whatever helps get their mission out to a great audience – and ultimately to the world!
My trajectory is an interesting one – I didn’t come from a traditional PR background, I didn’t go to school for this. In fact, over two decades ago, I found myself doing media outreach not for a client, but for a cause: fighting to help free an innocent man from death row. My husband and co founder Dave Parkinson and I had come across his story, and we couldn’t look away. We weren’t lawyers, we weren’t journalists—we just had this thrown in our lap and felt like we couldn’t walk away without doing something – so we learned how to do it, Dave learned how to make websites and I started writing press releases, cold-calling newsrooms, doing interviews, figuring it all out on the fly. People got involved, lawyers got on the case and ultimately Jimmy Dennis was released in 2017. He was awarded compensation by the jury – the biggest ever in the state for wrongful conviction, in a powerful statement – and though its important to note that he has still not received it as the city fights tooth and nail to avoid justice, That experience lit a fire in me.
.I saw how powerful media could be—not just for brand awareness or promotion, but for changing lives. That mission—to amplify important voices and help people be seen and heard—became the foundation for everything I do now. Whether it’s a small business with a big dream, an artist with a message, a non-profit on the frontlines, or a changemaker trying to shift culture—I’m all in. I know what it’s like to start with nothing but passion and purpose, and I’ve seen what can happen when the right story reaches the right people. That’s why I do this. That’s the mission. And that’s what drives me every single day.

Tracy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I didn’t start doing this professionally til I was in my early 40s more than a decade ago, but I wrote my first press release when I was just 28. It wasn’t until I was 42 or so that I thought I should build a business out of it, helping authors, filmmakers, entrepreuners as well as not for profits I supported. I am proud that we felt empowered enough as young people to raise our voices in support of others, which taught us to elevate our own and other voices, and taught us how to navigate the media for good! I’m also proud of the fact that we have built a business out of our own skills and talents, without funding that has successfully supported our family for the last decade and allowed for an awesome life that includes business travel and ultimately a move to the Mediterranean , I am proud that I am proud of all the work I have ever done, every project I have worked on – there’s nothing I do just for the money without also supporting the work. I always say I want young activist me to continue to be proud of older business owner corporate me :)

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth, and Linkedin for traditional PR contracts, and I also get about 50 percent of my work via sites like Upwork where people hire publicists for short projects.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Effectively utilizing media opportunities (I speak about how entrepreuners can find and use these to their advantage), guesting on nearly 300 podcasts around the world (putting the time in!) , accepting thought leadership opportunities whether speaking engagements or guest article writing, and not being afraid to tell the world what i do!
