We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Tatted a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andrea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I have hypothyroidism as a someone who aims to be a social media influencer being plus sized is never easy. It’s even more hard when people slam “work out” or “eat better” a lot of people don’t realize not everyone chooses to be the size they are big or small. So I just push that message.

Andrea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a very outgoing goofball. I aim to be a social media influencer. I struggle with hypothyroidism which is a thyroid diseases that causes my weight to gain. I’ve been the same weight for half my life. Which is hard for me because growing up I wasn’t always big. I work out and I eat right. I take my medicine. I do what I have to. I just am someone who wants to push that focus into media. Not just for plus sized people but skinny people too. Not everyone is their size because they chose to be it. Some of us simply can’t help it.
I am a very goofy person and very outgoing. My Facebook is my main platform that’s taken awhile to take off but it’s growing slowly now. It takes hard work because Facebook can limit you. But somehow people get away with things they shouldn’t. I really do think Facebook picks and chooses who they want to help on their platform.
I have been SA’D , abused etc. I’m adopted all of that has made me who I am. I am an advocate for all issues. Being pansexual and non-binary I am also an advocate for LGBTQIA+ . As a POC(person of color) I am always calling out racists. There’s so many issues that a lot of people are afraid to speak on because they’re worried about others. I want to be that voice for others who are too scared to speak.
We are not born, we don’t exist to please anyone but ourselves. The only opinion of yourself that should matter is yours.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Oh my gosh, I LOVE the way what I do brings a smile to others faces. I love that I give people the confidence and courage to love themselves. I love being a voice for people.
It really does take a village. The world is already so dark and nasty. It costs nothing to be kind!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have a goal to become a social media influencer to speak on the subjects people won’t or are too scared to speak on.
