We were lucky to catch up with Marcy Kraft recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marcy, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
The initial idea of Your Legacy Files started with my mom, Jeanne Majerle Haben, during the early days of the pandemic. I still remember when she first told me about this project she was working on in the days of quarantine. There was this quiet urgency in her voice. The pandemic had brought so much uncertainty, and like many people, she was thinking, “What if something happens to me?” Would my kids know where to find all of the details of my life? But it wasn’t fear that drove her—it was love. She wasn’t panicking, that’s not her personality. She was preparing.
My mom has always led with heart. She’s incredibly intentional, independent, thoughtful, grounded in her values. Then during the pandemic, she realized there was something she hadn’t passed on yet—some of the practical stuff – the details about her life, her essential information, the “what happens if” that no one wants to think about.
She started pulling everything together—documents, logins, insurance info, her wishes for her estate, even personal notes. She didn’t want us left scrambling or guessing if something unexpected happened to her.
When she showed me what she’d been working on, I immediately saw how powerful it was—not just for our family, but for so many others. We’d both heard too many stories of friends left piecing together someone’s life—locked accounts, missing wills, unknown wishes. It was heartbreaking. And it didn’t have to be that way.
That’s when we realized this wasn’t just a personal project. This could be a tool, a guide—a gift—that could help so many families avoid that pain. So after many months of market research, creating and testing the product, building a team and launching in October 2023, Your Legacy Files was born.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Marcy Haben Kraft, an entrepreneur with a heart for helping people live fully and intentionally. Together with my incredible mother, Jeanne Majerle Haben, and brilliant colleague Dixie Gibbons, I co-founded Your Legacy Files—a company born out of love and necessity to help families prepare for the unexpected.
With over 25 years in ministry, plus experience in sales and HR, I’ve dedicated my life to helping people move from fear to freedom. Whether through coaching, ministry, or this legacy work, I’m here to help others feel empowered, prepared, and at peace—so their loved ones aren’t left sorting through a mess.
At its core, Your Legacy Files offers an Organizational Guide that helps people gather essential information—cell phone passcode and computer passwords, pet care instructions, garage code, mailbox location and key, online account info, final wishes—into one simple, secure place. It’s a practical, affordable tool designed to prevent the stress and confusion families often face during a crisis, providing clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
Dixie Gibbons, a leader with 30+ years in software development and customer relationship management, has been instrumental in making the guide intuitive and user-friendly. Her passion for building tools that genuinely help people shines through in every aspect of this project.

What problems you solve for your clients and/or what sets you apart:
—————————————————————————–
We help people avoid the chaos, stress, and heartbreak that come when families are left unprepared in a crisis. What sets us apart is our product, The Organization Guide, offers significant value while remaining easy to use, without feeling overly complex or difficult to manage, providing a simple path to peace of mind.

What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know:
———————————————————————————————————————
I’m most proud of the way Your Legacy Files has truly transformed lives, lifting an invisible weight off people’s shoulders and helping families avoid unnecessary pain. I want people to know that we are here to serve with sincerity and heart—and that this work is about love, preparation, and making life easier for those you care about most.
And just for fun: I’ve also sung the National Anthem for the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins games!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Without question, the best source of new clients for us has been in-person events—especially at 55+ communities, hospitals, senior centers, and private homes. Our audience, primarily women ages 45–70, deeply values the personal connection these gatherings offer.
What makes these events so powerful isn’t just the presentation—it’s the trust we build, the stories we hear, and the deep human connection we make. Time and again, women come up to us afterward with tears in their eyes, sharing painful experiences of being caught off guard when a loved one passed or had a medical crisis. We listen, we honor their stories, and we offer them something that brings not just organization—but relief, hope, and peace of mind for the future.
There’s something incredibly moving about seeing the moment when it “clicks” for someone in the audience—that they don’t have to leave behind confusion or burden their family. When people can hear our passion, feel our care, and hold the guide in their hands, they realize they’re not just buying a product—they’re giving their loved ones the gift of clarity and love. That’s why they’re ready to take action on the spot.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One resource that has significantly shaped my entrepreneurial thinking is The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book deeply influenced the way I approach both my business and my life. It taught me that how you start your day shapes everything that follows—your mindset, productivity, resilience, and ultimately, your success.
As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to get swept up in busyness, but The Miracle Morning helped me understand the importance of intentional time for reflection, gratitude, goal-setting, and self-care before the chaos of the day begins. This practice has been essential in strengthening my tenacity, focus, and ability to handle challenges with a clear, grounded mind.
In our work with Your Legacy Files, where we help people prepare for some of life’s hardest moments, this philosophy has been invaluable. It reminds me daily that success isn’t just about hustle—it’s about showing up as your best self, consistently, with purpose and heart. That mindset has shaped not only how I lead but how I serve others.
