We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The biggest risk I ever took was walking away from a business I built from the ground up—a business that was successful on paper, generated a multi six-figure income, and that our family relied on. I had poured years of time, energy, and identity into it. But the truth was, it was draining me. I was having anxiety attacks daily, and the emotional cost was bleeding into my marriage, my health, my ability to be a present and happy mother.
How do you know when it’s time to walk away? When staying feels like self-betrayal. When your body starts breaking down from the weight of pretending. I knew I had to close the door to a “no” in order to make space for a “yes” to arrive—even though I had no idea what that yes was yet.
So I walked away. No backup plan. Just trust. I gave myself space—almost a year without posting, promoting, or performing. Just healing. And then, one day, an email popped into my inbox: my favorite dance festival was launching an online DJ school. My whole body lit up. That was my yes.
From the moment I enrolled, I felt alive again. I wasn’t afraid to share it—I told my people right away. It wasn’t logical, but it was aligned. And it’s led me to a life and career that feels like truth. I didn’t just take a risk—I saved my life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m DJMK, also known as The Have It All Queen. I’m a DJ, a somatic therapist, a coach, and a woman who’s learned to trust her body as her compass.
Right now, I DJ a wide variety of events—conscious dance gatherings, retreats, private parties, festivals, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and more. I say yes to the gigs that light me up, because energy doesn’t lie. When I feel alive, that energy flows into the crowd. My sets are designed to be felt—not just heard. I pick music that moves the body, stirs the hips, wakes up your life force. People leave my dance floors feeling free, full of joy, reconnected to themselves, and inspired to go after what they truly want.
But it’s not just about great music. My background as a somatic therapist and coach makes me different. I know how to hold space. I know how to move energy. I know how to lead people—not just into a good time, but into transformation. Sometimes that means movement facilitation or live coaching layered into a set. Sometimes it just means knowing exactly when to drop a track that helps someone let go of the thing they didn’t even realize they were carrying.
I’m proud of the way I rebuilt my life—from burnout to alignment. And I’m proud that I now get to help others feel more them through movement and music. If you’re looking for an experience that’s soulful, embodied, high-energy, and totally unique—I’m your DJ.
And yes, I’m open for bookings.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the hustle. The grind. The belief that success comes from pushing hard and outworking everyone around me.
As a firstborn daughter of immigrants, that belief was baked into me. My parents worked hard to survive, and success was how we kept the anxiety of scarcity at bay. But that wiring came at a cost. I burned myself out trying to “earn” my worth. And when I finally walked away from my previous business, I had to retrain my nervous system to feel safe not hustling. To believe I could still succeed without overextending myself.
That lesson now lives at the center of how I run my business. I’m extremely discerning with what I say yes to. I space out my gigs. I protect my joy and my energy because I know what happens when I don’t. I only work from passion now—not pressure. And that makes me better at what I do and so much happier, healthier and successful.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honestly? It’s the energy I bring—and the fact that I deliver. Yes, I’m technically good at what I do. Yes, my social media presence is vibrant – but my reputation isn’t built on hype. It’s built on results. I show up fully, I bring it, and I leave people talking. Every single time.
From my very first live set—DJing a New Year’s Eve party at a private retreat—I could feel the shift. People weren’t just dancing, they were having an experience. Something that cracked them open. Something they wanted more of. That’s what started the ripple.
As I’ve played more events, that word-of-mouth momentum keeps growing. People come to my sets and leave lit up. They tell their friends. They reach out to book me. And the throughline is: I didn’t just play a good set—I created something unforgettable. That’s what builds a real reputation.
I think people are also inspired by the way I go for it. I don’t wait until I feel “ready.” I let my excitement lead me. That kind of boldness is contagious. But again—it’s not just energy. It’s follow-through. I don’t just post pretty graphics and hope for the best. I back it up with a powerful, embodied experience that lands—and lingers.
Even now, I still get butterflies before I press play. I hope I always do. That edge reminds me I’m alive, that I care, that I’m still in the game for the right reasons.
What I want people to walk away with is simple: freedom, inspiration, and the feeling that anything is possible—if they trust themselves enough to say yes to what lights them up.
