Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dan And Annie Klark. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Dan and Annie, thanks for joining us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?

Working together is one of the things that makes us the most successful! Because we’ve built such a solid foundation as a married couple, it makes it easier for us to do business together as well. We are able to lean on each other for support when needed, and we are in constant communication about all things real estate and otherwise. It also gives us a unique perspective when it comes to working with clients to help them advance their own family’s goals – we’ve been through so much, both together and as individuals, that we are able to empathize with other families and individuals in a variety of life stages and financial positions. It’s a wonderful opportunity to use our experiences to help others as well!

When it comes to our kids, we would love to bring our girls into the family business one day, but that is entirely up to them! They are around so much real estate now that they definitely speak the industry language, and they are both smart and savvy enough to excel at whatever they decide to do. If either of them decides that real estate is a path that they would like to pursue, we would be honored to have them join us when they are old enough to do so!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Dan has been in real estate since just before our oldest daughter was born in 2014. He was seeking a career path with more flexibility, and because he loves helping people, negotiating deals, and working with clients, it seemed like a natural fit. As he began gaining momentum and growing more successful during those first few years in the business, he started having Annie help more with administrative tasks as her schedule allowed.
At the time, Annie was working as a full time musician and music director. Then, when Covid hit in 2020, she suddenly found the music world to be less stable and more uncertain. That’s when she decided to take the leap and get licensed in real estate as well. Her administrative background from working freelance and running her own businesses ended up being a perfect fit for the real estate industry. And that’s when we officially became Team Klark Realtors!
The biggest thing that sets us apart from others in our industry is our genuine care for our clients. Our primary goal is to make people happy, and to give them an experience that is as easy, stress-free, and enjoyable as possible. We place high value on communication and efficiency – we always make sure that our clients are well-informed through each step of the process, and we work to make things smooth and quick! We understand that real estate transactions represent a big life transition, so we work very hard to make our clients feel comfortable throughout the entire journey!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

We work primarily on referrals, which we love because that means that previous clients have been happy enough with us to recommend us to their loved ones! We also work quite a bit with others in our community – where we live, where we worship, where our kids go to school, etc. We love building relationships with our clients, and even if we didn’t know someone before we worked together, we always end up as friends!

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

We actually worked together in a restaurant job in Ann Arbor – which is funny, because both of us swore we would never date someone we worked with in the restaurant industry! At the time Annie had just graduated from U of M and Dan was attending EMU. We started out as colleagues, and always enjoyed working as a team – and eventually one thing led to another! We started dating on 6/7/08, and we were married on 9/10/11!
