We caught up with the brilliant and insightful AINSLEY a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
AINSLEY, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
100 % belief and support in me from a young age. They saw that my commitment, drive and soul never wavered from being a creative person. They were always there both emotionally and financially with a lot of sacrifice. Always my biggest fans, motivating me to pursue my dreams and what makes me happy.
I wanted to experience Nashville – growing up in Australia and in the music scene in Melbourne – Nashville sounded like a place to go in the business and experience recording and writing there. I made the finals of a singing competition where the prize was a trip to Nashville to do exactly all that – write and record with some of the best producers and musicians in the world. I was young and hopeful but I didn’t win….. I felt disappointed but on the long drive home my dad said – “So you really wanted to win that trip huh?” “You don’t need a competition to go there – I’ll take you there myself!” And here we are, having moved after that initial amazingly successful tour, now we are Nashville locals you could say. I have experienced and gained so much in my career and life, so much more than I could have ever imagined because of that moment on the car ride home.
AINSLEY, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Ainsley. I guess you could say in a nutshell that I am an artist and creative entrepreneur in many ways.
First and foremost, music is my biggest passion, it drives me everyday and is something that lives inside me. I love creating music, the recording process and then performing live is the cherry on top, it’s an emotional and freeing release. Making that connection with an audience throwing energy back and forth through the power of music is so inspiring.
Although music is my primary focus, I also love fitness training and human movement. Being a trained professional in this field, I have been able to help so many clients with their personal health and fitness journeys. I am so privileged and humbled to be a part of those experiences.
I created BlaZe Dance Fitness which is a dance fitness class format that captures the essence of dance and how that freedom of movement can build confidence and also be a great workout at the same time! It has grown into an additional Bootcamp style format BlaZe FiRE and also BlaZe FloW, a Lyrical Stretch format which gives even more variety to the method. BlaZe also has a Dance Company Branch available for corporate/live show/private event performances by The BlaZe Babes.
Anything creative has always brought me happiness so I love to paint artwork, do crafts, fashion, jewelry making, DIY projects and all the performing arts.
Aligning with my creative and health passions I also have a small retail business, Ainsley’s Essential Blends. I sell my all natural products made with 100% pure essential oils and ingredients. These are my own recipes developed over many years. They are blended and ready to use for body, home and wellness. I sell mainly online and at local markets.
I feel very grateful that I am able to combine all these creative things together as my ‘job’. There is always something exciting happening and new projects on the horizon.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to create music for a living and when that music engages, captures and resonates with people in their own personal way, I think that is just the best feeling and reward for all the hard work that led to that moment.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In this music business climate, it is so important for society to support live original music and independent artists in way of buying pre sale tickets to shows, purchasing their music and merchandise, tip, like/follow/share on socials, anything that will help them continue to keep touring and recording new material. The appreciation and acknowledgment from society can go a long way, not only financially but for the mental health of an artist. We can be very fragile souls so support and validation that creative work is worth something and means something can be life changing.
