Niurka, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most significant project that I continue to work on is the education of my daughter Gabriella, she was born with Down syndrome, and she started school at three years old, this semester she is starting tenth grade, Gabriella started dancing at two years old, she takes classes with Straz Performance Center since she was 6 years old, she is part of the new generation cast in that institution in Tampa, Florida, where I collaborate as a volunteer mother.
Having a child with labels from birth is a titanic challenge, breaking prejudices, methods, established systems and myths are what I have proposed with my daughter’s education, in addition to developing natural talents through ballet, dance, music, art in general, disciplines that heal human beings, empower them, create wings, security in the individual who practices it, this project is significant for me because the practice, perseverance, routines, and approach of art, its discipline and methods have helped my daughter in her cognitive, emotional and physical process, that is the greatest reward for continuing my effort.

My name is Niurka Calero Alayón, I was born in San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba, in 1964, in 1984 I graduated from the National School of Art Instructors, specializing in Theater, and I have been writing poetry since 1983, independently, I am a member of YLAI NETWORK initiative of the US state department, creator of the Club de Poetas Corredores del Tiempo, poetry page on the Facebook platform, published author, notary public with a physical and online seal, state of Florida. Creator of content on networks using different applications from #Iphonecreators, Patio con Niurka Calero Alayón is the name of my YouTube channel that began to take shape in 2009. I dream of the future, I have bright ideas, long wings, and an open heart. I want humanity to be able to look at others with respect and admiration, with love. I want to collaborate with the planet, and heal the wounds of my heart, and of others, with humility and affection.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Art is openness, light, observation, discovery, knowledge, splendor, being able to appreciate and preserve in the soul so much invisible, global wealth is the greatest thing about being an artist, organic empathy with life in general.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes, I have books that have changed my life, and that accompany me to this day as dear friends, “La Edad de Oro” by José Martí, “The Teachings of Don Juan” and “A Separate Reality” by Carlos Castaneda, The Little Prince of Antoine de Saint Exupery, the realist novels of the 19th century by Honore de Balzac, or the adventure novels of Alexandre Dumas, to name a few, without literature art languishes.
