Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Destiny Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Destiny, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I truly realized I wanted to pursue photography professionally when I decided to study art as a major in college. I was originally a graphic design major because I believed it would give me more artistic career opportunities. However as I began taking classes on graphic design I soon realized I could not stand coding, and I always loved photography but was too shy to go into college a a photography major because I was scared of what the job market would look like for photographers. But I soon threw caution to the wind my junior year in college and fully switched my major to photography. I realized just how much I loved taking photos as a hobby then when I began taking photography classes I realized I loved studying and learning about photography. This is where my passion truly came in and I just decided to truly purse photography full time professionally.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello my name is Destiny Moore I am originally from Los Angeles, California and currently live in Cleveland, Ohio where I practice freelance photography. I love shooting a variety of different photos from landscapes to kids, family, and any candid shots that will tell a story. I am definitely open to shooting any kind of photo and believe that the possibilities of growth in photography are endless. I am most proud of my recent pieces that were in the Heights Arts Gallery for the July 2024 that included my latest work of black and white photographs that depicted a variety of different scenes that from all over the world and locally here in Cleveland, Ohio. I believe that the black and white photographs I captured truly evoke emotion whether it being the angle or the actual subject that i captured but it will all move you and make you feel something.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is just creating the work, capturing the moment, the subject, and the overall essence of the scene. I love being able to be in the right moment at the right time or even creating the right moment those are the greatest parts of creating and being an artist.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The overall goal that drives my creative journey is to just create the art that I love the most. I believe that there is a lot of intrinsic value that I posses for art overall, and especially with photography. I push forward because it is out of love that I create art and it is out of love that i capture moments. In a world where things are created for a sole purpose and sold, I choose art to create for me and to just allow myself to exist in a space of creative freedom.
