We recently connected with Danielle Regitz and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The Beginning Wedding Co. refers to the beginning chapters of the Bible, in which God created mankind and called them into union with each other, saying “It is not good for the man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18).
It’s this understanding of marriage, the most fundamental of relationships, that I hope to celebrate and support with my wedding planning company. By taking on the tedious to-dos and tasks of wedding planning, I aim to give couples the time and space to prepare their hearts and souls for the marriage that will follow their day at the altar.

Danielle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I actually got my college degree in Environmental Science and Marine Biology, which led me to my first career in Environmental Education, specifically with the National Park Service and state Wildlife & Fisheries organizations.
After I had my first two kids, I decided to look for something that would keep me closer to home and I found myself immediately drawn to the wedding industry. Wedding planning and coordination seemed to lend itself perfectly to my skill set and situation in life, and when a friend asked me to coordinate her wedding in 2022, I fell in love with the process and have been growing steadily since then! I am now a full time wedding planner with a small team and together, we offer everything from Day-of Coordination to Full Planning and Design.
It may seem like park ranger and wedding planner are polar opposite careers (because they are, in a lot of ways), but for me it’s not such a big difference. What these two jobs have in common are an appreciation for God’s Creation and a desire to serve Him in the midst of it. Instead of leading swamp tours, I now walk with couples as they plan the most meaningful celebration for the biggest day of their lives – a different journey for sure, but beautiful all the same!
I like to say that my goal is to serve, not just to provide a service. I believe this is a mindset that sets me apart from some others and it really guides the way that I approach wedding planning. I never take my clients’ trust for granted and still get butterflies every time I see them drive off at the end of the night. It’s truly the greatest joy and honor to me!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Networking!! I spent the first several months in business attending every Open House, Sip & See, and networking event I could find. There’s no replacement for good old fashioned hand shaking and face to face interaction! At one of these events, I was introduced to the Association of Wedding Planners Houston (AWP) by another planner and immediately began the process of joining. AWP has given me a foothold in the Houston wedding industry and fostered relationships with vendors and other planners that have helped me grow my business into something I’m truly proud of.
Now, as a recent appointee to AWP’s Board of Directors, I hope to continue fostering this community of support, education, and collaboration for other Houston wedding professionals, especially those just getting started!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I have always been a people pleaser and upon entering the world of entrepreneurship, I felt compelled to find a way to close every lead. For better or worse, I made it a personal goal of mine to never “lose” an inquiry. As you can imagine, this led me to make decisions which were not necessarily in my best interest in order to book clients that probably weren’t the best fit for me. With each experience, I grew in self awareness and have since learned to put boundaries in place to protect myself and my company. Over the past couple of years, I’ve gotten much better at determining who my ideal client is, targeting them through my social media marketing, and being okay with the fact that I am not (and cannot be) the right planner for everyone!
