Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Azundra Perrot. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Azundra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
For about two years I had been procrastinating on starting my event planning company. I was planning events for liquor companies but it wasn’t for my brand, it was about making someone else’s brand bigger. I’d just turned 30 and realized that I was tired of working for others, I decided I wanted to be my own boss. I believed it was time for me to venture out and take a risk on myself. Shortly after that I applied for my LLC and began to put everything in place for the launch of AZ Events. I started working on my logo, my website, and the integrity of my brand. I had already done extensive research on how event planning worked but needed to make it unique to me. I needed to figure out what demographic I wanted to reach and how I could cater to each and every one of my clients in a special way. With starting a business some business owners go the business loan route but I didn’t have any business credit at the time. I was new to the business owner world, so everything I did to launch AZ Events was out of pocket. After about 6 months or so it was actually happening, August 10, 2019 was the day that my dream became a reality. I was finally doing something for me, something I loved, something I believed would not only change my life, but so many other lives as well. I wanted to make my clients smile I wanted to create memories for them that would last a lifetime.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I fell in love with event planning years before I became an event planner. I loved how it made people feel. I knew it was something I could be great at. I began working for a company putting together VIP events for their clients and I began to fall more and more in love with it. The more events I did the more I believed I was destined to do it, not just for someone else’s company but something I can call my very own. I have now been running my own company, AZ Events for 3 years now and it’s been a rollercoaster. I’ve had clients call me a week before their event to make miracles happen I’ve even had clients call me the day before an event. Each and every-time we have been able to execute our clients needs. It hasn’t been easy but I wouldn’t change my journey to get here for one second. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in just 3 years. I am most proud that my business is still growing. I started AZ Events a few months before Covid took over the world and to be able to still have my business and to still have my clients is a blessing. I am so beyond thankful for my husband, my family, my clients, and my supporters for being on this journey with me.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for new clients for me has been showcasing my work on social platforms and referrals. I have had clients reach out to me that were guests at a previous client’s events that I’ve done before as well. It’s all about being able to create and showcase my talent to leave an impact on someone’s life.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There has been plenty of times I wanted to give up, those moments where I felt like it was just too hard. I remember a time where I wasn’t getting booked for any events and I couldn’t understand why, it got to me, it made me doubt myself and I wanted to give up. The next day I received call from a client who needed an event planner for a private dinner. I was hesitant at first because I was so down on myself and was unsure if I could pull it off in such a short period of time, but I needed to prove to myself that I could do this. This was my time, I was able to give my client more than just a dinner party I gave them an experience to remember. Even though I had doubts in the beginning I kept pushing and once I did that event more clients began reaching out. I believe that everyday will not be perfect, but as long as I keep pushing I will succeed.
