We recently connected with Becky Kincaid and have shared our conversation below.
Becky , appreciate you joining us today. Would you say you are more focused on growing revenue or cutting costs? We’d love to hear how you think about these two critical drivers
I have always felt that the sky is the limit when it comes to creating opportunities for growth and revenue in my business. There are so many ways to scale and while I try to remain focused on what we do well – I believe that changing lanes a bit or putting new focus on other areas is a great way to grow revenue. It is energizing to me and exciting for my team as well.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I am the creator and founder of Creative Jane Art Studio in Winter Park, FL. My business was born out of a dream to create a space for people to experience art and making in an environment that fosters joy in the process- not just a perfect, finished product. After many years of homeschooling my own children, running after-school art programs and working in art education for a local museum I took the leap of faith to open my own creative space. We offer Toddler Art Play and Pre-K Art Play classes and recently launched a Play School for 3-5 year olds. For Elementary students we offer After-School Mixed Media classes and Art Workshops. We also offer Art Camps during school breaks and those are some of our most popular offerings. On Saturdays, we host birthday parties! We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean, bright space that is inspiring and inviting. Many of our customers have been with us since the beginning and it is a true joy to serve the families in our community. Building relationships and watching kids grow has been the highlight of this adventure so far!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was only 3 months in when Covid reared it’s ugly head. Instead of retreating and giving up – the challenge was motivating to me. Our sensory play classes are what set us apart from other studios, so I started creating take-home sensory kits and art kits for curbside delivery. The studio morphed into a kit making factory and we sold so many that I could barely keep up! It was an exciting time and I was able to make it through what could have been a detrimental time.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth, instagram and my location! Moms of kiddos have been my biggest cheerleaders and I am regularly hearing about people finding out about Creative Jane through a friend, teacher, etc. Instagram has been a great way to connect with my audience and keep people informed of the day to day happenings of the studio. I regularly get DM’s asking how to sign up through social media. Having my studio on busy Fairbanks Ave, in Winter Park has been a great way to gain customers. I just had a mural done on the side of our building and I am hoping it adds to the already regular calls we get saying that they want to know who we are because they had driven by.
