We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adam & Beth Sepulveda. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adam & Beth below.
Adam & Beth , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
The Evolution of BeFree Off Road
The idea behind BeFree Off Road came together quickly—at least, it feels that way. Although, like any new business, we’re still evolving—and probably always will be.
It all began in July 2020, when we bought our first UTV: a 2020 Polaris Turbo S. Before that, we were avid backpackers exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. But when COVID hit, and forest closures shut down our go-to trails, backpacking was no longer an option. That’s when we discovered UTVs—and everything changed.
Within six months of owning our side-by-side, we found ourselves on a 700-mile, multi-day ride through Baja, California. We were instantly hooked. Since then, we’ve completed five Baja tours, logging thousands of trail miles—and sharing our adventures on Instagram at @Seppybefree.
In July of 2023 we took a leap of faith and moved to Arizona. It’s a very UTV friendly state and we were able to hit the trails right from our front door – making daily rides to explore our surround desert really enticing. It was such a great move for us considering our hobby of off roading. No more having to trailer the car to gain access to trails.
In July 2024, we sold the Turbo S and upgraded to a 2024 Polaris Pro R built by Upfit UTV in Phoenix.
That October, we participated in a “reunion ride”—an 1,100-mile journey from Phoenix to Las Vegas alongside people we had met on previous Baja expeditions. The route covered much of the Arizona Peace Trail with a spur into Vegas. As usual, we documented everything on Instagram—never expecting that this ride would be the ride that change everything.
After we returned home, our inbox blew up. People were reaching out, asking us to lead them on their own multi-day UTV adventures. By November, folks were shipping their UTVs from Florida and flying out to ride with us. Over the next few months, we ran five more Phoenix-to-Vegas rides, welcoming adventurers from Wyoming, Idaho, Missouri, New Mexico, and Arizona.
As demand grew, riders who joined us began saying, “You have something special here.” And that’s when we realized this might be more than just a hobby. The business started building itself.
To do it right, we took the necessary steps—launching a website, creating an Amazon store for all of our trail tested gear, began the process of securing permits, insurance, and handling the backend logistics. We also upgraded our on-trail support by adding a chase truck and a 28-foot trailer capable of hauling two UTVs. We added 2025 Upfit UTV to our fleet, used as our sweep vehicle, driven by one of our two trail mechanics who’ve now joined the team.
In our first season, we ran five full trips and logged over 7,500 miles on the Pro R. Due to overwhelming interest, we’re now prepping for Season 2, which kicks off in October and runs through May. We’ve just released our upcoming ride schedule on our website: www.befreeoffroad.com.
Starting this business has been both exciting and nerve-wracking—but above all, incredibly rewarding. We’ve met so many amazing people who’ve become lifelong friends. It’s been inspiring to see how the shared love of off-roading brings people together.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Adam is originally from sunny Southern California, and I, Beth, grew up in the heart of Pennsylvania. Adam has always had a deep love for the outdoors—he’s passionate about backpacking and has an incredible talent for navigation and reading maps. I, on the other hand, love welcoming people into a space where they feel comfortable, cared for, and truly special.
When we started BeFree Off Road, we discovered that blending our two passions created something bigger than just a love of riding desert trails. Adam focuses on charting the most remote and breathtaking routes, making sure each day brings a new adventure. I take care of the “off-trail” details, ensuring our guests feel relaxed, pampered, and at home—whether we’re miles from civilization or gathered around the campfire.
One of the things we value most is keeping our groups small and personal. We typically host no more than 10–12 vehicles per trip. This allows us to really connect with each guest and for the group to build strong bonds along the way. It’s always amazing to watch the camaraderie grow between day one and day five. By the end of the trip, it’s common to see people hugging goodbye—already planning their next ride with us!
Safety is at the heart of every adventure we offer. We’re proud to have two of the most skilled trail mechanics from the off-road racing world on our team. Their expertise means our guests can ride with peace of mind, knowing that any mechanical hiccup on the trail will be handled quickly and confidently.
At BeFree Off Road, it’s about more than just the ride. It’s about the experience, the people, and the memories we create together. We’re so grateful for the community that’s formed around our journeys—and especially for the guests who come back to ride with us again and again.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When Adam first launched our Instagram page, we had no idea it would grow into what it is today. What started as a place to share snapshots of our off-roading life quickly became the foundation of our business—born and built entirely on social media, especially Instagram.
Like many others, it began casually—just sharing moments, connecting with fellow off-road enthusiasts, and documenting our adventures. But as our story unfolded, more and more people started following along.
Seeing the potential, Adam pursued and earned his digital marketing certification from Arizona State University to ensure we could harness Instagram as a powerful tool to grow and sustain our business.
If we could offer one piece of advice for anyone trying to grow on social media, it would be this: show up to serve. Whether it’s solving a problem, sharing knowledge, or simply offering inspiration—always provide value. And just as important: be real. What you see on our Instagram is exactly who we are on the trail. Authenticity is at the heart of everything we do.
At BeFree Off-Road, we proudly consider ourselves part of the service industry. Our goal is to deliver the best off-roading experiences possible. For many of our guests, these aren’t just rides—they’re once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list adventures. And we’re honored to help create unforgettable memories on the trail.
Our mission is simple: inspire people to get outside and EXPLORE in a UTV—while we take care of all the planning and logistics. You just show up and ride. We’ll handle the rest.
One thing that’s never changed—and never will—is our commitment to staying personally connected with our audience. Every comment and DM is answered by us. We’re not just business owners—we’re also our own social media managers. And we like it that way.
We love building relationships with our followers—from the very first message, through the planning process, all the way to the final ride. That personal connection and genuine care is what sets BeFree Off-Road apart—and it’s what makes every adventure unforgettable.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
That’s a great question! We actually met 12 years before our business even came into the picture – we’re husband and wife! When the idea of starting a business emerged, it felt like a natural next step to combine our unique passions. Adam has this incredible ability to see the big picture, while I, Beth, focus on the smaller details and the behind-the-scenes work. Our different personalities complement each other perfectly, and together, we’ve learned how to navigate the challenges of running a business as partners in both life and work. It truly feels like a match made in heaven.
