We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgan Newbold. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgan below.
Morgan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I fully believe the path to being successful is authenticity. Showing in your work what moves you and what you are proud of, is ultimately what will resonate with your audience. There are many ways to beat the algorithm or be successful through trends; however, staying true to the fundamental elements of your art is the most impactful. Because I love what I do, that will reflect in the work I put out into the world! Also, being willing to push your boundaries and try new things, build relationships with people, and uplifting your community will have a massive impact on how successful you will be.

Morgan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been in love with taking photos since I was a kid. I started taking portraits for friends in high school, and soon after, started my photography business!
I took mainly portraits for a couple of years, and at the same time, started going to concerts often. I realized photography and live music were my two favorite things, and combining them was the dream goal. I got into shooting local shows, and my friend’s gigs. From there, I built an established portfolio and connected with the most amazing photography community. I have gotten so many amazing creative opportunities in the past 4 years of pursuing this career and have made life long friends.
I offer a wide variety of services from concert photography to creative portraits, families, couples, events, and branding photography and videography. I want to capture authentic moments and create art that resonates with a lot of people!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think one of the most rewarding aspects of being a photographic artist is documenting split second moments, and moving people by capturing their memories. I always view any loving or lively interaction as an opportunity to do so. Having an artistic perspective in the world around me makes me stop to observe, fully take in the beauty and capture things that I find cool or visually stunning.
I find immense joy in the process of photography. Seeing the way the light hits, noticing candid interactions and freeze framing them in your mind. I love looking back on work I’ve done, also, and reliving my own memories through them.
Live music, especially, is so so important to me and I’m immensely grateful to be able to express myself in such a creative and visual way!
Being in the creative industry has opened so many doors to opportunities I never thought I would have, and connecting with people through passion and common goals and struggles, and then becoming best friends with them, is the ultimate reward of this career. I’m so grateful for everyone I’ve met through my work.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal right now, in my photography career, is to make art that reaches far, that stands out as something impactful and brings joy to people. I want to go on tour, especially, with an artist that I look up to creatively, to work side by side with them and document the palpable energy and happiness that live performances cultivate. I would really feel accomplished if my work was published or in print, as that would solidify my creativity as something tangible and lasting!
