We recently connected with Dr Sarah Druckman, DC, CAC and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
Coaching other female doctors and entrepreneurs is one of my passions. I started my practice with NOTHING. Literally from an ex-boyfriend’s basement and as a mobile chiropractor. All along while launching an online functional medicine detox program before coaching was “a thing” and getting my first yoga teacher training. I knew that I wanted to be more than just a chiropractor, I wanted to live and sell the wellness entrepreneur lifestyle.
I gradually moved into a one room office space in Thrive Coworking in downtown Alpharetta, which quickly led to expanding into Alpharetta Wellness Collective in 1200 SF up the road and shortly thereafter 3700 square feet with a yoga studio and staff of 12.
Start small. Keep your overhead low. HIRE HELP. Find the right support and people to do the things that you aren’t so good at doing yourself. This is why I coach others on their journey to grow their empire. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and burnt out during the “hustle” phase of growing a business so I think that having the right mentorship is key. You don’t have to go at it alone. Find the right mentor and hire them, they will make your journey so much easier.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Wow this is a big one. I studied Fashion Design right out of high school because I thought it would be fun and I would galavant around the world. I always loved science and art and thought I would be a veterinarian or PhD biologist working in the field studying animals, but at 17 fashion sounded way cooler! Well fast forward and I had a menswear clothing line with a partner and I was sick and unfulfilled in my career despite having “success” within that market. I had suffered from food sensitivities, stress & eczema since childhood and I realized in my mid-20s that chasing the fashion dream was not good for my physical or mental health and that I wanted to do something that supported a healthy lifestlye not only for me but for others. This is what led me to become a chiropractor. The cool thing is that when I started chiropractic school I didn’t even realize that I could become an animal chiropractor so as soon as one of my teachers introduced me to it I was hooked. Not only do I see humans, dogs, horses and other random occasional creatures but I am now a yoga teacher, life coach, functional medicine practitioner as well.
My practice Alpharetta Wellness Collective is my dream come true. We have 2 chiropractors, 4 massage therapists, 2 holistic estheticians, stretch therapy, reiki, yoga, peptide therapy, anti-aging solutions, functional medicine and more. Outside of the practice I adjust horses, host retreats, and coach other female entrepreneurs in reducing stress and burnout as well as creating their dream practice and life.
I feel like I am just getting started!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
2022 was one of the most challenging years of my life. I had been burning the candle at both ends both physically and in my personal and professional life. I had just turned 40 and was in an unhealthy relationship and surrounded by all of the wrong people and energy. I didn’t know how to set boundaries, was in peri-menopause (if you know you know…) and neglecting myself for the sake of growing my business. On the outside I “had it all”. Needless to say, this was a pivotal point in my life, one that led me to creating my coaching platform for women. It really forced me to look deep into what was working for me and what wasn’t working anymore and get honest with what I truly desired moving forward. I believe that God/The Universe whatever you want to call the higher powers above are always redirecting you for your greatest good and will never send you more than you can handle. If you ask for growth you will become the version of yourself that can handle that growth. My worst experience turned out to be my best and I am grateful for that challenging experience because it has made me stronger and more resilient than ever.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I deliver amazing care. At the end of the day I am a great doctor and coach. Not to be braggadocious but no matter what is going on in life or business I always show up for my clientele and offer them a 5 star experience. I am a community leader. I give back to others support others. I have never quit. I am well known in the community and I absolutely love my community. You have to keep showing up. Time and time again. Stay relevant. Show up for yourself and show up for others and your reputation will precede you. Stay in integrity. Be true to your heart and soul. Even when things are tough or challenging, and they will be as an entrepreneur work on building self trust. Not everyone will like you, and that is ok. The version of myself that I was 5 years ago doesn’t even exist anymore and that is a beautiful thing. Stay rooted in family, spirituality, health and your truth. That is how you build your reputation.
