We were lucky to catch up with Eternal West Editorial recently and have shared our conversation below.
Eternal West , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
The idea for our meetup group at Eternal West Editorial was sparked by the inspiration we drew from SLC Inspired. Their passion and ability to bring creatives together really motivated us to finally take the leap on something we had been talking about for a while. After attending multiple of their events, we recognized the need for more safe, intentional spaces where creatives could freely share ideas, connect with others, and receive a bit of guidance along the way—that’s where the concept of our styled meetups was born.
It’s been incredibly fulfilling to create opportunities that might not be accessible otherwise—like working with owls, mini cows, or foxes—at affordable rates. These unique experiences not only spark creativity but also help build a strong, supportive community. Through Eternal West Editorial, we’ve witnessed amazing growth and connection within a creative network that truly uplifts one another.

Eternal West , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Eternal West Editorial was created as a safe and welcoming space for both models and photographers to explore creative opportunities, build their portfolios, and connect with others in the industry.
We’re co-owned by two photographers, Holland Houghton (@hollandcaptures) and Madison Kline (@mk_smittyphoto), each bringing a unique style and vision to the table. By combining our distinct approaches, we’ve been able to offer a wide variety of looks and experiences through our meetup group.
One of the things we’re most proud of is how far we’ve come—both in terms of personal growth and the amazing creative community we’ve been fortunate to build. From meeting countless inspiring individuals to successfully hosting a retreat in Oregon with SLC Inspired, it’s been such a rewarding journey. We’re currently planning more retreats in collaboration with SLC Inspired, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.
What really sets Eternal West Editorial apart is our animal-styled shoots. We specialize in offering access to unique animals—like owls, foxes, or mini cows—that most creatives wouldn’t have the opportunity to work with otherwise. It’s all about making rare, high-impact experiences more accessible.
We would like potential creatives to know that we are a safe space to come and meet new people, create, and have as well as have the opportunity to work with some amazing animals.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Holland and Maddy actually first crossed paths at an SLC Inspired meetup, but we didn’t really connect at the time. It wasn’t until a Halloween party hosted by a mutual friend that we started talking more and discovered our shared creative energy. That night, we started bouncing around the idea of doing a snakes and spiders shoot—something bold and different—and that spark of inspiration ultimately led to the formation of Eternal West Editorial. From that moment on, we knew we wanted to create something unique together.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our goal and mission moving forward is to keep expanding—offering even more unique, exotic experiences, hosting retreats in new locations, and continuing to grow our creative meetups on a larger, more impactful scale. At the core of it all, we’re committed to maintaining safe, inclusive spaces where creatives can connect, explore, and bring their visions to life.
