Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebecca Vera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rebecca, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about growing your team – how did you recruit the first few people, what was the process like, how’d you go about training and if you were to start over today would you have done anything differently?
When The Habitat Real Estate Group first started, it was just a vision — one built on heart, purpose, and a desire to do things differently. It was just me at the beginning, fueled by the dream of not only building a successful business, but creating a supportive space where agents could truly grow. Then I met my partner Johanna Cordova and together we converted that vision to a reality.
Bringing on those first few team members was a personal and intentional process. We didn’t look for just experience, we looked for people with drive, integrity, and heart. We found them through conversations, through connections, and even through those who simply reached out because they felt aligned with our mission. There was no formal “interview” process, it was about energy, shared values, and asking the right questions: What do you want out of this business? What’s holding you back? And how can I help you get there?
We have walked side-by-side with each of them. From showings to paperwork, from mindset coaching to business planning. We built systems, structure, and accountability together, piece by piece.
If I could go back and do it all over again, I would probably document our processes earlier and delegate sooner, but I wouldn’t change the heart of it. That personal connection, our energy, the respect for each other, our admiration, that one-on-one mentorship, is what makes Habitat what it is.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Rebecca Vera, Bolivian Persian, bilingual, wife, proud mom of two amazing girls, and founder of The Habitat Real Estate Group. Before real estate, I spent 20 years in the wine industry mastering sales, service, and building relationships.
Today, I use that experience to guide buyers, sellers, investors, and especially new agents in building successful, sustainable businesses. As a mentor, my mission is to walk alongside those who are ready to grow, providing support, structure, and real-life guidance every step of the way.
I believe in leading with heart, staying authentic, and creating a space where others feel seen, supported, and inspired. I love animals, music, good energy, reading and I truly love what I do.
Whether you’re looking for your dream home or a new path in your real estate career, I’m here to help you rise.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation in this market is a combination of consistency, authenticity, and heart.
I’ve always believed that how you treat people matters more than any title or transaction. From day one, I made it a priority to show up with integrity, being honest with clients, reliable with partners, and present for every agent who trusted me to guide them. I don’t promise perfection, but I do promise effort, follow-through, and care.
I also leaned into what makes me me ,my background, my bilingual skills, my 20+ years of experience in sales, my relationship with clients from the wine industry and my ability to connect with people. I didn’t try to blend in. I built genuine relationships, stayed consistent in my values, and wasn’t afraid to lead with vulnerability.
Lastly, I focused not just on selling homes, but on serving others, helping families make smart decisions, preparing clients for even up to 2 years to be ready to buy their first home, mentoring new agents, and creating a supportive space through The Habitat Real Estate Group where people can grow.
Reputation definitively isn’t built overnight it’s built every time you keep your word, give your best or go the extra mile. That’s the foundation I’ve built my business on, and I’m proud of it.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes!!there are several books that have truly shaped the way I lead, grow, and show up every day as a mentor and entrepreneur.
“The 5 AM Club” by Robin Sharma was a game changer. It taught me the power of discipline, protecting my mornings, and creating space to lead with clarity and not chaos. That book helped me design my mornings with intention, which changed the pace of my entire day and taught me to put myself as a priority.
“Let Them” was another one that shifted my mindset. It reminded me that not everyone is meant to understand or support your journey, and that’s okay.
Books like “Mentoring 101” and “The 360° Leader” shaped the way I coach and support my team. They reinforced that leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about influence, humility, and service from wherever you stand. These principles have guided how I mentor my agents at The Habitat for sure .
I’m also a huge believer in the power of morning routines, not just as a productivity tool, but as a mindset foundation. That quiet time sets the tone for how I lead, how I create, and how I pour into others.
All of these resources, in different ways, have helped me grow not just as a businesswoman, but as a human being. They’ve kept me grounded, focused, and inspired to help others rise too.
