We recently connected with Sky Janga and have shared our conversation below.
Sky , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Time is not on our side. I learned that later in life. While others had figured out that they wanted to be athletes, nurses or doctors, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do as a profession let alone what I needed to do to find out the things that interest me. I never took the time to think about what I wanted to do or what I was good at could be a passion. Going to college helped me really decide the path to take, thought it was school but music was the way to get me out. If I’d known that my career would be as exciting as this I could’ve very well nurtured the idea. Learning that anything could be a career and that just because I never thought about it doesn’t mean it isn’t possible was around the same time I met the person who would change my life as I knew it. Morris Miller, we met summer of 2009 and what he taught me I still use today. Although neither of us knew I’d take it this far as he moved on from the music creation side of things and did the family thing. I respect it but I found my love in music production once Morris taught me how to use Fl Studio 7 at the time and since then I’ve never looked back. Yes I could’ve started in highschool, there was one guy that would have a crowd during lunch time rapping lyrics, it’s crazy because me and that guy became good friends later after I started my career but me learning from Morris years later put me more at an advantage then I may have been if I’d started early.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
SkyJanga took flight for the people. Some may believe I’m here for my own individual purposes but I beg to differ. I’ve spent tons of time developing my sound as a Beat Maker and my brands appearance therefor once the time came to branch out and solidify my entrepreneurial journey I’d already figured out how to sell my services. The really messed up part was being genuinely aware that the clients I’d worked with knew nothing further then recording their song in studio with me. Most don’t even know how to receive royalties let alone how to put their music on all platforms to be accessible to the masses. The great thing about it’ is I actually like to inform those who spend time and money with me so in return I bless them with some knowledge on how to be more successful as a recording artist. It makes me proud I’m able to give useable information to those who needed it most, I never got the chance to have that someone to give me insight on my goals and dreams, seeing the inspiration in my followers and fans showed me that what I’m doing with my gifts aren’t used in vein
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Given the everyday chances of social media, I learned that staying relevant is key when running a social media page. The more you engage with the likes and comments that you receive and give dope content for the viewers to see. Posting reels is the new Picture so I would definitely suggest it, I’ve received so many supporters and new fans of SkyJanga not the hype that some may cloud themselves around.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Actually being able to do the things I love without having to wait on anyone else to move. And I can’t forget the way it feels when I get the credit due to me for the work I produce. Most of all being able to enjoy the feeling I get when an artist actually does something creative and catchy on my beats
